I would like this especially if Hernandez is still on the board. He'd be a perfect fit for the line. Guards do tend to fall so it's about 50-50 he'll be there. No doubt that a good tight end will still drop to the Jags 2nd round pick. I don't think it will be Gesicki due to his amazing combine. Andrews, Hurst and Goedert could all possibly drop to that spot. My preference is Hurst, as he is the most well-rounded. If they sign Trey Burton, Goedert would also be a great pick since he wouldn't need to start immediately and he may have the most upside of all the tight-ends.

I'd take it all day but Hernandez is a top 20 pick like I thought Cam Robinson was last year. Only difference is Hernandez doesn't have the baggage coming into the draft as Robinson previously.
I'm thinking we trade back if the aforementioned five are not on the board, then move up with our late second and mid round picks, essentially having an early second and a mid round second.
Ian Thomas is one who might be worth a look.
He was the guy who grinned as he did the one-handed catch at the combine “gauntlet” drill.
He seems to get good write-ups as a player who needs to develop, but who has the attitude and the ability to be quality one day.
I think they might think we need an immediate starter, but if the “big four” are gone in the first two rounds, he’s the one I would like to see in the third.

Interesting player from Indiana. Funny enough though if we're in the third round I would much rather see his teammate taken instead at WR. Cobbs Jr. He's more quick than fast but he absolutely showed up and out against Ohio State last year. And it was impressive.
At TE I used to think we'd have to go round one, and I would for certain if Goedert is actually somehow there, but now I think the TEs are falling. After Goedert someone might take a shot at a TE near the end of round one, but maybe not, and then in rouind two there doesn't appear to be much interest until at least the midway point. I'm thinking someone takes Andrews or Gesicki, and then Hurst actually drops and we snag him. If not, we could always take the Andrews/Gesicki/Shultz consolation as at least one of the them will certainly be there.
I'm ranking them for the Jaguars...

For another team I might rank Andrews over Hurst, but for a hot-weather team I feel Hurst is a better fit.
With the signing of Norwell, I think we may target Goedert in the first and a QB in the 2nd, although, Hurst could be the target as well. Then I believe we'd either go RG and then WR in rounds 3 and 4 or vice versa.

Agree, unless someone surprising falls or there is a really good tackle available, it has to be TE at 29 now.
Goedert seems to have the highest ceiling of all the tight ends. Unfortunately, it may take him a little longer than someone like Hurst to have a significant impact right away. That will be the dilemma which Caldwell and Coughlin face when making this choice. Also, Hurst is much more likely to be there in the 2nd enabling them to take BAP in the 1st round.
Hurst is over-rated. W-A-Y over-rated. Better talent to be had with the pick.

Paul is more of a 3rd TE/special teams guy. Still think we need someone between him and ASJ now that they let Marcedes go.

Caldwell emphasized that Paul was primarily a special teams signing who has some ability to play TE or an HBack role. ASJ is your do it all type of TE. Gesicki is a game changer and would fit in seamlessly with our 2 TE offense that’s being implemented.

Agree on that. Jimmy Graham would be my comp for him. Don't mind Goedert either.
Overall though I'm not sure I want a TE in the first anymore.
