The Patriots may be adding a quarterback to their roster in free agency. WEEI’s Kirk Minihane reports New England has extended an offer to ex-Bengals backup A.J. McCarron, who won his grievance to become an unrestricted free agent. McCarron would presumably serve as Tom Brady’s primary backup and replace Brian Hoyer.

On Tuesday, NFL reporter Benjamin Allbright linked McCarron to the Patriots as well. 

The Jaguars better get in there and try to coax McCarron to join the Jaguars. Championship experience is VERY hard to come by. McCarron has paid his dues. It's safe to say SOMEBODY is comparing A. J. to Tom Brady, and it ain't me.

While I don't share jungle cat's annoying enthusiasm,  as a lifelong Tide fan I hope he does well.
