Of course it's for one of the QBs!
Two things from this trade:
1. The cost for the Bills to trade up into the top 5 just went way up
2. The Colts made a smart move with this deal. They now have the #6 overall. Assuming QBs go in the top 3 picks, they are still in a reasonably good position to land either Bradley Chubb, Quentin Nelson, or maybe even Barkley.
If I had to do a top ten mock at this point, it would be
1. Browns-Sam Darnold
2, N.Y. Giants- Josh Rosen
3. Jets Josh Allen
4. Browns-Saquan Barkley
5. Denver-Baker Mayfield (possible trade down with Buffalo)
6. Indy-Bradley Chubb
7. Tampa- Marcus Davenport
8. Chicago Quentin Nelson
9. San Francisco-Calvin Ridley (not totally comfortable with this pick)
10. Oakland-Denzel Ward
I am jealous. We had 5 straight top 5 picks and not one trade down...the Colts and Titans get up there a total of 3 times and are getting gigantic trade down deals.
I hate this trade, because it will make Indy much better. They may still get what they wanted in round 1 and have all those extra 2nd rounders. Jets better take the best q.b., but they'll probably blow it.
The colts could hit every pick for the next two drafts and still have the worst team in the division
Interesting take from Tony Pauline:
We spoke about the 3rd pick being on the market way back at the Senior Bowl. To reiterate- the Colts want to come out of the draft with 3 linebackers. Don't be surprised if they make another move down (Bills or Miami for a QB?)
Bad news for us, if we wanted a LB?
