Wow, that looks great. A Donald Ross course often means crowned greens so you could roll right off the mountain.

I played a course called Reems Creek outside of Asheville, NC a couple of years ago. It was quite impossible with all the hills. I remember the 2nd hole in particular (the first was a pretty easy 340 yd par 4 rolling gently downhill). From the tee there was a huge drop to a landing area. I took the cart down through 3 switchbacks.

When I got there, I realized that the hole then turned 90 degrees left and back up the mountain. Jeesh. That was my first 8 of the day.
Eagle Landing was a nice course, I enjoyed it. There were a lot of wide open tee shots so you could blast away and plenty of sand traps to make you think. Greens were all good and the price was right.
Price was even better at Cimarrone yesterday- JagsorDie and I made it around safely, had a couple beers and made some good and some bad shots.

Now we're challenging Rico and NYC to a match.

JoD- I still want to get to Hidden Hills at some point.

So he went to the right course this time?   Laughing

Haha I did. Not too many other Cimarrone courses I could get mixed up with. Fun round, played twighlight so the course was wide open and weather wasn't too hot.

PF- we will get out to hidden hills soon, you just picked the only day they were hosting a tourney lol.
I'm playing Bent Creek on Sunday. Probably haven't been out there in 5+ years.

I played it two or three months ago, course was in good shape but there was a couple areas where I ran into a log jam. 4 groups waiting to tee off and no marshal to push things along. Made a 4 hour game turn into a almost 6 hour game.

Playing at 7:30.  Shouldn't have that issue.
PLayed at Cimarrone again with the regular Wednesday group. Eagled the first hole but the other 17 holes were pretty forgettable.
Took my first golf lesson yesterday. I actually did better than I thought I would but that's not really saying much.

As long as you didn't hurt anybody...that's a plus.
Now that we've gotten to know each other, we can do it right next time and bring lots of beer and bloody Mary ingredients out there. If NYC joins us we can bring extra shirts for him.

Are you still in town the first week of August?  That's probably the next time I can play a round locally.

Yes. Here until late August, then to Maine for a couple of weeks, then back here for the first 3 home games.
Shot 96 at Bent Creek yesterday. Felt like I shot better. Actually finished the front nine with four straight pars and a 43 on the front.

Then the woods and the water kept jumping in front of my ball from 10-16. Then finished par-par. Weird round.
Funny how that goes. I had similar scores in 2 rounds recently- in one I felt like I knew what I was doing, in the other I was clueless but the 2 scores were like 3 shots apart.

That is how i felt when me and PF played. I would string together some nice holes  with 3 pars in a row then i would blow up a hole or two which sank my score. I had one hole where i shot a 9 on par 4 and never took a drop. What made that even worse was i was about 15 yards off the green after my second shot. My short game was crap and it killed me.

Going to play Windsor today.

PF- We should put together a round during the week this week for hidden hills on there twilight special.

JoD- that would be good, maybe Rico or others can join us...Monday or Thursday is best for me. If either works for you, let me know day and time and I'll meet you there.

PF
Too hard for me to get out during the week.
We're going to get the Bloody Mary machine cranked up.
