Fountain is a ate round/UDFA guy that has some ability to highpoint the ball. Could be a good project for Keenan to work on.
Sort of like they tried with the Etta Tawo kid last year (now with giants).
Keep bringing in those guys and hope to find your next Hurns or Cole in the process.
I like Fountain. He could be a hidden gem. I have him going in that 6th to 7th round range. He looked very good in the East/West Shrine game and showed the ability to break away from defenders. At 6'2" he's got the height we are looking for. It'll be interesting to see what he runs. He seems to show good play speed.
I've seen some decent buzz on the guy recently. Sounds like he might go earlier than we all expect. 4th round wouldn't shock me at the moment.
Per rotoworld:
Quote: Daurice Fountain - WR - Panthers
NFL Draft Scout's Dane Brugler lists Northern Iowa WR Daurice Fountain as one of the players who will be drafted despite not being invited to the NFL Scouting Combine.
Brugler believes that Fountain (6'2/210) was the best player not to be invited to Indianapolis last month, and that he likely would have crushed the testing procedure. "He is raw in several areas, but his athletic profile and ball skills will land him in the middle rounds," writes Brugler. We wouldn't be surprised to see Fountain go before the end of Day 2, but a selection in the fourth or fifth-round is the safe bet.

Kudos to the Jags scouting department on this one. Could be a diamond in the rough if we draft him.
Never heard of them and more likely just another one of those Neal Stearlings. Pass.

Great analysis.
These guys are pretty far down the WR list. Gotta be thinking 6th round, 7th round or UDFA.

Kirkwood could be there in the seventh Fountain may not last that long.
I bet he goes in the fifth round.

Maybe not, but it's he's worth chancing for our sixth round pick. If not, there are a couple other WRs I can see going in round six who fit the bill.

Yes, I'd definitely spend a sixth on Fountain if he's there. And you're right, there are a cluster of receivers rated similarly in that range that would give the Jags one more bigger wide-out to develop.
I think it's clear we're looking to add a big target red zone weapon that isn't going to take a lot of capital to acquire.

Sure seems that way, and I think it's a smart way to go about addressing WR in the draft.

I'm thinking 4th
Fountain at his pro day...
42.5" vertical
11'2" broad jump
4.46 40 yard dash

wow
Yeah. Maybe my fifth round guess is a little late for him.

Meshing these with established Combine
numbers...
His vertical would easily best all other WRs. DJ Chark was the top performer and he registered 40".
He would also have the best broad jump, beating DJ Moore by two inches.
And his 40 time will put him at or in the Top Ten performers. He is slower than Calvin Ridley (4.43) and faster than Christian Kirk (4.47).
But, as the old Senior Editor used to say about Pro Days: "He ran at his place, so that means he ran 39 1/2 yards."
Very Cam Meredith esque.
Would y'all take him in the 3rd?

Me? Nah.
I still view him as a Weekend guy, not a Weekday draft pick. But that's me.
