Chase from Jacksonville:
The word on the street is the Jaguars sent a scout to a private Johnny Manziel workout Thursday afternoon. Is this just a case of due diligence or do you think he could be a viable backup option? I personally think he didn’t get a fair shake the first time around and in the right situation could be a really good QB. What say you John?

John: Here’s something sure to shock the shorts off anyone who follows such things: the “word on the street” in this case was a twisted, distant, misrepresented version of what actually happened. As Gomer Pyle (Google it, young ‘uns) would say, “Surprise, surprise!!” Manziel threw at the University of San Diego’s pro day Thursday. He reportedly had been working out in San Diego with two prospects from USD and there was no other quarterback to throw to the players during the workout. The Jaguars were among 13 teams represented at the workout – and I’m sure all 13 scouts noticed Manziel and took note of how he threw – but this was not a case of the Jaguars breathlessly sending a scout to Southern California in an urgent attempt to weigh Manziel as an option at backup quarterback. Bottom line: don’t hold your breath on this one.
Money Manziel is a cancer on an NFL roster. No thanks.
He still has a 4 game suspension to serve too.

Here's the deal with Johnny Football. He is in the same category of QBs as Tebow and RG3. They ran around the school yard, making jaw dropping plays by extending plays and breaking down defenses. They ran for 150 yards and threw for 400 yards with 6 TDS and no ints.

That crap don't work in the Pros.

We're trading for OBJ and signing Johnny
Everyone derserves a seconed chance. Go back in time when TC was HC of Giants. Remer the WR who made the big helmelt catch that helped Giants win Super Bowl againest undeatefed pats? David Tyree had also got into some trouble before that. TC took a chance on him

giveing him a seconed chance. I'm not saying it will turn out for jags if they end up going after, and getting manil. all im saying is sometimes takening chances turns out to be good. only time will telll. if anything Manzil does have something we don't see from bortles, exciteing engery with teams mates.

I rember him getting in faces in college to fire up team mates. we don't see bortles doing that. I'm not saying i want Manzil, nor am i saying i don't want him either. the point is who ever ends up on team weshould support the player. our #1 job as fans is to support team even if we don't like desscesions front office makes.

That being said, late 1st round misses are easier to forgive and overcome than high 1st round misses and they've missed on a ton of high 1st rounders in recent memory so Manzier probably wasn't their worst pick.

Trent Richardson.

I watched NFL's Path To The Draft interview Manziel today after throwing at Tx A&M's pro day. He came across as a humbled young man, trying to earn a 2nd chance, with much more maturity than "Money Manziel" of old. My 'no' earlier in the thread is being changed. His throws looked good. I would support bringing him in as a QB3 on a very short leash.

As a qb3 based on what I've seen from recently? I mean, yeah that move has some upside to it. Low risk/high reward, but I'm not sure it would be worth the media coverage.

I think it would be smart for him to go to the cfl, or xfl, somewhere and prove he can be responsible throughout a season.
