Thoughts?

My thoughts are I'm ok with Ridley. We lose Arob and fill his spot with a playmaker.

Westbrook might end up our WR1 with Lee and Ridley sprinkled in.

I'd like a good solid pass catching TE in the 2nd round.

Ridley is such a polished route runner that I'd be excited as heck to see what he adds to the roster.

Keenan would love him. I’m ok with Ridley. I’m just not sure he will project to a WR1.
Can't forget about Cole. I think those guys as a unit would be a top 10 unit in the AFC. I agree, Ridley is very polished. Anybody know what his 40 was?
I'd rather Hernandez, Price, Ragnow, William's, Goedert, Rudolph, or Gisecki

Not gonna name the WR I'd take over him

But Hernandez was already picked.

Cole is our best WR.  I don't think WR is that big of a need.  Online and TE are much bigger needs

I'm saying in real life
@ flgatorsandjags, all your favorites were picked by the time the Jags made their pick.

As of right now, Cole is our best WR. His numbers prove it.

I know it was in this mock.  I'm just saying in real life if any of those were available I'd take them before Ridley.  I think WR in the 1st is more of a luxury pick for us right now with the needs on the oline
I think we'd still be needing to find a real WR1 at some point.

Moncrief and Cole would have the WR1 spot (split end) covered. Ridley and Lee would have the WR2 spot (flanker) covered. Dede and Mickens would have the slot covered.

I don't remember Dede playing any slot last year.  Cole did some damage in the slot though

I don't think they had much opportunity with the limited numbers at WR. They needed him outside. That said, he's often been projected as the perfect slot receiver.
I'd prefer they put off drafting a WR that high for a year or two if they can. And I think they can.

I imagine there will be better value there to choose from in the real draft. These site mocks tend to have a half dozen players selected too early -- often because they are the "GM's" personal favorite offensive player.

It's possible of course, but I really don't think the Jags are going WR in the first round of this draft.

I'm only going WR is it's Ridley or Sutton just like I'm only going TE if it's Goedert or Gesicki.

Marrone, last year,  clearly stated (when asked about Dede in the slot specifically) that he liked to see his rookie receivers learn all the positions and start outside before learning the slot.

Westbrook did play a lot more Z than Y (slot) last year, but it wouldn't be a surprise to see him getting looks in the slot in 2018 IMO.
Westbrook played in seven out of sixteen games. Of the seven, he started five. One interesting stat is he was only targeted six times from under center. 45 targeted passes came from the shot gun. He was 2 for 2 in no huddle for 28 yards - his highest yds. per catch average. Fifteen of his twenty-seven receptions were good for first downs.

The telltale on Westbrook will be to evaluate him as a blocker. If his tape shows he blocks willingly, he's been molded as a true pro. IF Dede does demonstrate a regular aptitude for blocking assignments he is much more value to the Jaguars' offense then a pass catcher who can not coexist with a power run game.

Doing the best he can as a blocker shows he is a team player, but it also sets him up nicely as a salesperson in play-action.
I think everyone knows how about feel about lighting this pick on fire by drafting a WR...
With Ridley we have a bonafide WR1.

@ flgatorsandjags 10-4 on the real life

Except if you ask 5 different draft experts you'll get 5 different opinions on who is the best WR in this draft. Ridley is no Megatron or AJ Green type prospect
