I was going to reply that I'd take Mike White in the third (instead of Falk in the fourth) and then take a nickel in the fourth  - but Brugler has White long gone at #83 overall prior to our third rounder.

The possibilities of this team getting better in this draft are strong.

I'm excited and ready for this draft, even though the off season seems a lot shorter considering our post season run last year.

I do like White.  If the top 6 QBs are gone, I'm just debating the best way to grab him.  Do we go something like OL in the first, TE/DL in the 2nd, then move up a bit to grab in the 3rd?  Or just take him in the 2nd?

I think they'd just hope he falls to them late in the third, but if Cough-Well are really sold on the kid they may trade up a few spots in the third.  I kind of doubt it though.
I guess it depends on how much better they think they've gotten from their first two picks and subsequently how much capital they'd be willing to give up for a nice back up QB who might challenge the starter eventually.

Until recently nearly everyone in draftnik world had a fourth round grade on him. He's trending up though.

Yes. Strong chances there.

And this offseason is cruising by. Is there really a mini camp in a few weeks??

The lack of a TE here would be very disappointing.

I just don't see us picking a LB in the first 3 rounds.

Any linebacker we pick would only play 35% of the snaps at most.   That was Poz's workload last year.
We don't have any 2019 or 2020 salary cap issues at the LB position, so it's not a long term need either.

We have 2 kinds of needs-
Immediate starters who would improve us right away- those are OL, TE, maybe WR if it's a 1st round pick.
And the other kind of need we have is to fill the gaps in 2019 when we have to release some players for cap reasons.  That would be DL or safety.

I just don't see any big benefit from picking a LB that high in the 2018 draft.

And I echo what some others have said- these national pundits don't know our team half as well as we do.  (And some of them don't even care.)  That's why they're off base so often.

Agree.  I don't see LB as high a priority as some think and don't expect one to be taken until later if we do take one.

Blair Brown has potential to step into the sam role.  If so, then roster cuts or UDFA could produce a backup/depth.

That would make for a nice draft covering most of their needs...

  • Immediate starting RG who can bounce outside to RT when Parnell's tank runs out
  • Dominant pass catching #1 TE
  • A starting SLB for their base package with pass rushing ability
  • A natural, productive QB to backup for a couple years and then possibly challenge for the start.
We might want to look for a WR in round six, and then a nickel back and backup FS in round seven.
Looking at this mock I'm thinking...

1. OL Conner Williams
2. WR Equanimeous St. Brown
3. CB MJ Stewart
4. QB Nick Luke Falk
6. TE Ryan Izzo

Check out this mock's MJ Stewart prediction. He'd be a great pick in the late third round, and perfect fit for what we need in our secondary.

Seeing that he also writes children's books, we might have to get him in round three.

Kidding... I corrected it

In this mock Ragnow went #90... the Jaguars pick #93.

He's mocking Ragnow at #61 to the Jags, not #93.
Which actually makes a lot more sense than Ragnow lasting till #90.  I doubt he's available that late.
Oh yeah. That works. Ragnow is good value at #61.

This is his 7 round mock for us.

I'd feel like we stole something and got away with it. LOL
Sign me up for that draft

Agreed, I'd be happy with that.
