Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck provided clarity on his injured shoulder Monday, saying he's progressing well, but he's yet to pick up a football and begin throwing.

And he apparently isn't even throwing regulation size balls yet. Sounds like Luck is tired of the Colts putting out nonsense about him and creating false expectations. This will be interesting to watch if he does come back.

I get that the story isn't over here.
But just consider for a moment... what if he doesn't ever get back (or isn't close to who he was?)
Apparently this injury dates back to the end of 2015. He then played through 2016 with it.
The treatments he then received caused him to not be able to play through 2017, and he's still not football ready.
What if it was the decision to not rest but to play through injury for so long ends up being a factor should his career be cut short? Whoever made the decision to play through or otherwise put off treatment would have made a very costly mistake.
Even if comes back healthy week 1, can he survive 4 games with that awful colts oline against our defense and the texans defense?
I would say no. Another injury to that shoulder and he's looking at retirement.
I feel bad for luck because I genuinely like him as a person and a player, regardless of thinking he's crazy overrated. He's still a top 10 QB and it's a shame to see the talent wasted.
clots are going to suck for a while...
Such an optimistic team. So much optimism but so little actual results

I agree, I think the colts screwed him, and he knows it. Thats what makes this interesting, cause when and if he comes back, I think its only a matter of time before he leaves them.
Also merging my thread with the bots - come on guys not cool.
I feel like this is the exact same story given before last offseason. He's progressing nicely and will be ready for training camp....until he wasn't.
I would be extremely worried if I were a Colts fan, and the Colts should have gone out and gotten themselves a viable back up.
If he didn’t play for the clots (and make millions to not even play) id feel bad for him, as he seems like a guy who loves the game and had a true talent/dedication/knack for the game. I respect that.
But he is a clot, and he is being paid millions to essentially do nothing but care about his own body, so it’s hard for me to really be sympathetic.
I think Ramsey/Bouye would torment his aggression anyway.
Dey messed up. Could have got a franchise qb at #3.
I don't think there's too much mystery around Luck as a player. Top 10 QB when healthy, easily above average.

Basically my take as well, but there are many convinced that we are greatly overrating him with that take.

Top ten sounds about right. Though you'd think he was the second coming if Joe Montana the way he was talked about in some circles.
Colts should have traded him to Cleveland for the opportunity to get a replacement.
“If healthy” is a very serious variable for a QB.
He's got a timeline that he can't reveal --- uh, ok.
I think I figured it out.
2016 - collect $23.3m
2017 - collect $23.3m
2018 - collect $23.3m
2019 - collect $23.3m
2020 - collect $23.3m
2021 - collect $23.3m

I don't recall that, but I do recall posters getting blasted for saying he was top 10 (myself included.)
Our argument being he was top 10, but not the best in the league.
The arguing poster cited an opinion piece from one of the "analytics" sites. I retorted that he wasn't in top 3 in any single category that season, therefore it was asinine to give him the title.
The poster's view was top 10 was not giving him his due.
The "overrating" arguments I've heard come from those who correctly point out he hasn't lived up to the "once in a lifetime" hype. Is injury a part of that? Sure. But even when healthy, he's always had his healthy share of interceptions and boneheaded decisions that hurt his club.
Coming out of college, many folks were acting as if the HOF was practically preparing his bust in Canton.
I can't see where any one (even without injury) could put him on that level. I and others have always been slammed for that opinion. Following Peyton Manning could also have played into that sentiment. Even when healthy I don't feel he was living up to those expectations. Manning and the other legends he was being compared to coming out weren't simply top 10.
