I feel like other teams are kicking it short and we frequently start before the 25 yard line yet we ALWAYS kick it out of the endzone.
Brought this up several weeks ago. Kickikg inside the 5 does not get back to the 25 90% of the time, so it makes sense why we don't use that strategy.
Agreed. It's just one of those frustrating coaching things. Like constantly running from shotgun/no fullback and not using Bortles running ability

Yep, we should be running the read option way more. The one time they used it today Bortles ran for 11 yards but then they gave up on it.

Yep Worked too well, why would we use it again...
Because our special teams coverage sucks.
We tried pop ups in preseason & we stank
This is just further proof of the inadequacies of our coaching staff. We don't even try to get a small advantage on the kickoffs, we just give them the 25 yard line for free. Stupid.

Bingo.
Because when we try to get get cute with kickoffs, bad things tend to happen. (long returns, out of bounds kicks, etc)
Maybe Gus is telling Myers that if he gets it between the posts on Kick Off, it's 3 points?
Anybody ever thought to ask why our special teams coverage sucks, or is it just accepted?

Black swans.
Football is a game of big plays and the 3 or 4 big plays in a game is usually the difference. However the difference between starting at the 25 vs the, I dont know, 19 is mostly irrelevant.

Not buying your logic because a kick return also creates the chance of a forced fumble and great field position. Kicking out of the end zone automatically eliminates the chance of that "big play".
Possibly because the coaching staff has tried it over and over again in practices, and they don't trust 24-of-38 to place it where it needs to be?
All the other things that suck on this team and we're complaining about this?
Just as bad as Greene catching that punt on the 1 was Lee catching that pooch kick on the 1. That ball was going in the end zone and instead of letting it bounce and take a knee he got it and got tackled at the 10

It's all part of the big picture that is a feces mosaic.
