exactly this.. truthfully I think Albert starts at LT and this guy starts at one of the guard spots

Im still not buying that Cam or Albert wont move to guard. I believe both will compete for the LT spot, but whoever loses kicks out to guard. I just think Couglin and Dave were putting the heat on Albert to report and that he isnt getting a new deal. I stand with the Jaguars on this as well. Albert is 32, hasnt had a season where he hasnt missed time and still is getting 9 million dollars this season. Hes on the back end of his deal on the back end of his career. We just shelled out a ton of money for more free agents, he needs to get his butt into camp and getting adjusted to his new team. I get that he probably wants some guarantees and wants to milk ever last dollar he can get before he no longer has any leverage, but this is the NFL. Its a business at the end of the day. Hes getting 9 million a season to play football, as long as he is competing and playing well, he has nothing to worry about. 

 

If we draft a guard early tomorrow, ill start buying that Cam Robinson or Albert wont move to guard if they cant win the LT spot.

i agree with you on most of this. However i dont think that cam was brought in to put pressure or be a contingency for Albert. I think its the other way around. Albert was a contingency for them missing a oline in the draft. i dont think you draft guys to put pressureon 32 y/o guys with a 2nd round pick. 

 

We now have two guys who can play inside and out and want to compete for LT. If cam becomes what they believe he will be, great, we have a LT for the next 10 years. If not we have a decent stop gap till we find one. Either way i doubt either will spend time on the bench once the season starts.

In today's spread offense era in college football,it may be harder to find quality tackles than it is to find a guard.

So you get your tackle when you can.

I don't see Cam really challenging Albert as a rookie. I'm thinking either this will be the case, or they let Cam compete in camp with Parnell for the start at RT.

Caldwell didn't budge on Robinson playing LT...One question asked him specifically about Robinson playing guard and Caldwell said he's playing LT

 

.One of them will start but the rotations will be frequent, meaning both men would have a decent amount of playing time at LT is what I felt Caldwell was saying

He said in the video they feel Albert will report when the mandatory stuff starts and that they aren't worried about it because they still own his rights...

He didnt bring it up, it was a question someone specifically asked...someone asked if drafting Robinson had anything to do with Albert holding out and he said no and then continued to say they arent worried about the voluntary stuff and they believe he will show up when the mandatory stuff starts

I really hope Albert shows up, plays at LT, and that Cam becomes a dominant run blocking guard.. I dont want him to replace Parnell because that again means we still havent fixed guard.


I want Parnell to be what he was supposed to be, same with Albert, otherwise we didn't fix anything going into this season

I disagree. LT is still more important than Guard. Joeckel is proof.
