I think you said it right. It's a deep pass it takes more of a windup to get the needed velocity for that. As someone who is more than willing to eschew bias to critique Bortles when it is necessary, this is not the example to do that with.

However, I do have a question as to why has there been so much of a need for Bortles to show "consistent tight window accuracy" as has been regularly reported when Ramsey and Bouye are not out there? Surely our deep and varied WR corps should be getting consistent separation against our 2nd and 3rd stringers.

He may be staying out of those beach bars for real.

From what I have seen of ota's his throws look much improved with little wobble to the pass.

It looks that way from the itty, bitty, tinsy, winsy bits of coverage they've shown, however, media reports suggest the wobble is still there on several of his deeper passes.
I think the offense will open up a bit more this season now that Blake really has a firm grasp of it now, and I think his confidence is definitely a lot better. I know we say this every year, but I really do think this this is the year that Blake proves he is our franchise QB. Once he does, and defenses can't stack the box, our offense will be beautiful. Paired with our stellar D, another deep playoff push is coming.

Peyton Manning threw many ducks back in his prime. They always seemed to reach the WR. Not comparing the players, I'm comparing the ball wobble.
And Blake didn't choke in the playoffs ala Manning... so there's that, too.

You can tell he has been training. Looks improved.
Who cares if the wobble is there as long as it gets there accurately and quickly?
I feel like we have a major issue at backup QB

Well.. in theory, the wobble affects the accuracy and timing of the throw...

but yeah you're right... as long as our guy catches it for + yards... who cares how pretty the ball is.

I've always wondered about worries about the backup position.
Nick Foles is an outlier for sure.... Most teams have an issue at backup QB, meaning, if that guy has to play more than a game or two, it's probably gonna hurt your season.

If, god forbid, Blake goes down... not sure how much it matters if its Kessler, Henne, or Brian Hoyer.

So does 98% of the league.

The Pats have Hoyer?

The backup situation across the league is pretty gross.

Any time your starter goes down, you're in trouble. Which makes what the Eagles did even more impressive.
Why not just get someone like Matt Moore? Not good but he can win games idk if Kessler can? I know Lee cant
I’m actually a big fan of Kessler. I thought he played well in Cleveland considering the lack of offensive talent he had to work with.
Maybe the Jets release McCown with Darnold being drafted and Bridgewater getting rave reviews.

He'd be the perfect backup.
As with most teams, if you need to go to your backup for extended time, chances are your season is done.

How nice is it that we're finally arguing about the backup QB spot, and not in the "he should start over Blake" nonsense.

I just have a gut feeling Blake is going to be a top 10 QB this year

Hot take! I sure hope you're right but breaking into that top 10 seems extremely daunting. Not to say he can't get close but:

Rodgers, Brees, Brady, Ben (he's still got it), Rivers, Ryan, Cousins, Stafford, Wentz, Goff, Wilson, Smith. That's 12 but not including Newton, Prescott, Eli, Winston, Watson, Jimmy G, Carr, Healthy Luck.

QB position is kinda loaded with talent.

For sure. It's a tall task, but I just have a good feeling about it. I think he'll be better than Goff, Wilson, Cousins, maybe Smith, Stafford, and Rivers.

Just a gut feeling. Not quite an official prediction on my end yet lol
