This self-pardon thing really has the left' panties in a bunch. This should occupy their airwaves through the mid-terms.

POTUS doesn't get enough credit for these types of things.
It does seem that the dems had the same plan for Hillary but in reverse

Why do we have other US citizens having crimes against them for having mishandled classified info and Hillary not being charged.

It certainly works with his base, but then nobody has ever accused them of overthinking.

His base doesn't destroy college campuses and start riots when things don't go their way, so we have that going for us.

Nice deflection, but Donnie does it better. You should leave it to the professional and just lap it up as usual.
Doesn't everyone agree that Donald is a constitutional scholar? Actually, except for his base (whomever they are) people just chuckle and wonder why he doesn't have something better to do. I guess it's raining and he can't play golf. Thank god for the Fox News Channel.

This economy and his approval rating have to be driving you and your people insane. Keep on keeping on though...

C'mon - Donald is the comedic gift that just keeps on giving. And the cast of clowns around him ... HBO or anything on Netflix couldn't be better.

I mean, after all, Donald had (has?) Saul Goodman as his personal attorney! Better call Saul! Rudy is trying to top Saul, but he doesn't have quite the sleazy edge that Cohen has. Rudy does have a certain endearing goofiness though.

Must see tv. Soon taking the show on the road to Singapore.
If Trump pardons himself and Congress doesn't remove him from office then the US can no longer be rightfully called a democracy.

It's ok, we aren't a democracy anyway.

If the left got their way and removed the electoral college, democracy would be gone anyway.

Oh, and impeaching a president because you don't like him puts the whole democracy thing in question too.

None of that bothers or surprises me a one bit, not sure about the rest of "my people". I was used to an improving economy before Trump started taking credit, and we all know how misleading and irrelevant approval ratings can be, or is your memory that lacking.
Who is this “my people”, you speak of!

It's ok, we aren't a democracy anyway.

Merriam Webster's definition of democracy:

Quote:a : government by the people; especially : rule of the majority

b : a government in which the supreme power is vested in the people and exercised by them directly or indirectly through a system of representation usually involving periodically held free elections

We are definitely a democracy.  We are more than a democracy, and there are more specific ways to describe what we are, but democracy is still correct.
You would probably protest that we're actually a republic, which is also not wrong, but also not super specific:

Quote:a (1) : a government having a chief of state who is not a monarch and who in modern times is usually a president
   (2) : a political unit (such as a nation) having such a form of government

b (1) : a government in which supreme power resides in a body of citizens entitled to vote and is exercised by elected officers and representatives responsible to them and governing according to law
   (2) : a political unit (such as a nation) having such a form of government

The "governing according to law" part seems to be the key difference between the two definitions.  It's the only clause in either set of definitions that would be in play if the President chose to pardon himself and the Congress chose to do nothing about it.  Dragonfury meant that we would no longer have a clear rule of law if this happened and that we would be more like a dictatorship.  Dictatorships have no rule of law, but, if the dictator is not a monarch, and power doesn't pass from parents to children, dictatorships could be categorized as republics, according to the first definition of republic offered by Merriam-Webster. Modern examples of dictatorial republics include Cuba, Venezuela, Egypt, and China.  But, no dictatorship could ever be categorized as a democracy, per Merriam-Webster's definitions of democracy.  So it is best for us not to use either word alone, and specify that we are a "democratic republic" as of today.

But, if Trump pardoned himself and Congress did nothing, we would be a bit more like a dictatorship starting from that day forward.

Because we have a double standard. I don't disagree that the US is a mess as it relates to the animosity of each party.

You are an apt pupil, I gotta give you that. Three irrelevant deflections in one thread. Are you posting from your version of the Presidential Throne from which your leader Tweets?
