South Florida’s not quite Jurassic Park, but it’s getting close.
Packs of green iguanas are swarming seawalls, roaming yards and parks, and leaving a path of destruction and filth in their wake. Like a shot of espresso, the hot summer sun has stoked activity in the cold-blooded creatures, which experts say may be at record numbers.

Someone in the comments suggested substituting new yorkers for iguana and rereading the article. I have to say, it was much better than I thought that way.
We had an iguana. It was by far the stupidest creature I've ever had. I've had blue crabs in my saltwater aquarium that were smarter.
It did manage to escape from it's cage on our back porch. I made a token effort to recover it, but wasn't all that sorry it got away. I always wondered whether or not it survived the winter. This was in South Brevard, so not as mild in the winter as the Miami area.
Was just in West Palm and they were all over the place. Had one jump into the hot tub, swim across, jump out and scarf a Hibiscus flower that had fallen.
Invasive species that should be killed on sight.
Round 'em up and ship 'em to Ethiopia... Kill two birds with one stone.
I've heard they taste good. I'd try it if I got the chance. Probably tastes like frog.
