Unless it causes significant distress or disability, transgender (in all it's varying forms) is considered a psychological condition, not illness.
Serious question. If what you say is true then how do you explain away depression, anxiety, manic depression, etc., as both mental illness and a psychological condition, but transgender isn't? Mind you, I have never said anything related to LGBTQ as being a mental illness, that's what others have said.
I honestly have no idea what makes LGBTQ folks think the way they do regarding their gender identity or sexual identity, but if it's like any other disorder the human body and/or mind has, it's an imbalance or lack of something because we were built biologically to have opposite sex relations and our DNA tells us who we are. That is scientific fact.

Why must I "explain away" anything? The other conditions you note don't reach the point of illness until they become extremely distressful or disabling. There are many examples of successful, well adjusted, stable transgendered men and women. Why are they unfit to serve their country, because they make straight people uncomfortable?
We were built biologically to procreate. We would not have evolved as a species otherwise. This has nothing to do with gender identity. Physical, sexual and especially emotional attraction is not necessarily about procreation, unless you believe the only reason human beings should have sex is if they are trying to have children.

If you're doing it with fingers, you're doing it wrong.

Where did I say anything about them being unfit to serve? Nowhere.
And side note:
My issue is the sensitivity training forced on an employee of the military whose purpose in life is to protect this country. The basic ongoing training to stay on top is time consuming enough, they don't need special OJT on how to treat such a minute number of fellow employees to take up more of their time and take away from actual training. If there is a problem it needs to be dealt with at the command level.

Sorry, didn't mean to be argumentative, I do hope I addressed your original question. I agree with you on your side note, unless the sensitivity training was implemented because problems were detected at the command level.
