with a 13-3 record.
According to them, three teams in the AFC end up with a 13-3 record: us, the Patriots and the Chargers.
Per their predictions, we are the #2 overall seed behind the Chargers (which means they predict we will beat the Pats in week 2, according to them), and lost the AFC Title game to the Chargers.
I'm still baffled by the media speculation that the Chargers are going to go far in the playoffs and some speculating the Super Bowl. Seriously? I mean, why don't we see if they can even get to the playoffs first? Plus, the loss of Hunter Henry and especially Jason Verrett is going to be huge obstacle for them. I'm not sure if they can go deep without Verrett, he is a good cornerback.
But hey, I like their prediction on us.

Even without Verrett, they have a formidable defense.
In the AFC, here are the defenses I fear the most:
1. Chargers
2. Broncos
3. Texans
4. tacks
5. Browns
In the NFC
1. Eagles
2. Vikings
3. Saints
4. Cardinals

Yeah very true and especially with a good defensive coordinator in Gus. But I just can't pick them to go far in the playoffs just yet when they haven't even been to the playoffs in a while. And I really think the Verrett loss will be an obstacle at some point.

Had they simply held on to beat us, they would have made the playoffs last year.

Yep, good point. I just need to see it happen before I pick them to start going deep in the playoffs. Just my opinion. As much as I love Rivers too, I need to see him get it done in crunch time more often.

Understandable.
For whatever reason, since Schottenheimer left, they have had a tendency to start slowly, making a hole too big to climb out of enough to make the post season.
The chargers are every sportswriter's favorite loser it seems.
Rivers is badly overrated and while they have some great players at spots they always seem to underperform. They've made their name around here beating up on bad teams that always seemed to play with [BLEEP] morale on the west coast.
They don't particularly worry me in Jax and I can't see them actually being a 13 win team. If anything they'll some how end up at 8 or 9 wins while everyone talks about how they're the team no one wants to see in the playoffs, when the reality is looking at what Rivers has done they're the team everyone should want to meet in the playoffs. (11 td 9 int in nine games with a losing record)
We SHOULD run away with the division this year. I'm really not impressed by Tennessee at all. The Colts have Andrew Luck coming back behind an improved O-Line and a much better starting RB, but their defense is still hot garbage and Houston can make all kind of things happen with a healthy Deshaun Watson and that fine group of receivers, as well as a solid defense, but their O-Line is trash. I believe we will be the only team out of the AFC South to make the playoffs.
I don't think we will run away with the division. I think Luck and Watson will get us 1 each. The Titans...man, we need to stop over looking them. They beat us twice last year, and probably a 3rd time if we would have faced them in the playoffs. We just don't match up well for some reason, and I think a scrambling QB is our weakness.
Yes we have speed but it's tough to shut a WR down and cover a RB, only for a QB to tuck and run for 13 yards here and there.
We still got to get past NE in week 2. NYG will be playing hard in week 1 with OBJ and Barkley.
We can't have games like Arizona and 49ers last year. And Ten last year.

I just don't see anything the Titans have that scares me, particularly now that DeMarco Murray is gone. With a healthy Andrew Luck, the Colts could be much better. Even with a terrible defense, he is always a danger to hang 40 on you. DeShaun Watson looked great as a double threat last season, but his O-Line is God awful and I am counting on us taking advantage of that. I could see us losing one game each to the Colts and Texans, but that should still be good enough for us to win the division by 2-3 games. The Giants don't scare me at all. Barkley is overrated and the O-Line is far from fixed. NE is a coin toss. It should be a close game. Our toughest games should be the Pats, Eagles, Cowboys, Steelers and Washington. Those games could go either way. I'm gonna say we go 11-5.

You think the Cowboys are a tough game? Based on what? They have zero receiving weapons and a suspect defense, especially in the secondary.
You can say you don’t care about the Titans but the fact remains that they beat us twice last year and Blake always seems to have his worst games against them. They have a new OC who will most likely play to Mariotas strengths instead of hold him back like Mularkey did. I’m not saying I think they’re better than us but they did win a playoff game last year with a trash HC.

The Cowboys have the best O-Line in the NFL and arguably, one of the top 3 RB's in the NFL. Dak has the ability to make things happen on the ground and I was a big Allen Hurns fan. I personally believe he is a big upgrade over Dez at this point in their careers. I'm not saying I think we'll lose that game, but it's one of those match ups that I see as a potential "trap game" for us.
As far as the Titans, Mariota just isn't great passer. He needs a solid running game and I see Derrick Henry as a complimentary goal line rusher only. DeMarco Murray was the feature runner and they no longer have that. That was a huge part of their offense and I just don't see them being the same.

You obviously dont know much about the tacks.
Demarco murray? Seriously??
I see Derrick Henry as the feature back, even when Murray was there. I don't see anything on the Titans roster that scares me either, but as a unit they beat us up in week 2 last year...33 points on our awesome defense. Then they beat us a 2nd time.
We struggle big time against the Titans. 0-2 is not out of the question against them.
The Texans have a QB they cancels out the oline and that sort of thing. Just like Luck does up in Indy.
The Patriots is not a coin toss in my opinion. We habe only beat the Patriots like once....ever.
The Eagles are not that good. I think they had a good run last year. But I think we destroy them.
Maybe Barkley is overrated, but he hasn't even played yet. Maybe he does go for 200 yards and OBJ goes for 150.
11-5 would be nice. But I just don't want us to become those rich kids and forget where we came from.

Titans also picked up Dion Lewis who will be a very good 3rd down back. Murray was absolutely dreadful so losing him is a positive for them. Their backfield is better this year than last year.
Cowboys have a great OLine and Zeke is amazing but I’m not worried about Hurns at all. Our DLine is deeper than last year and the secondary is still the best in the league. I think Hurns struggles in Dallas and I see the Cowboys around 8-8 or 7-9.

I still don't see Henry as a good feature back and I'm not really a fan of Dion Lewis. Again, the Titans don't worry me at all. I think Hurns turns out to be the Cowboys #1 receiver option this year, if he's healthy. With that said, he should be a #2. They really missed out on adding a true #1 receiver in the draft. I also believe it will come down to the Cowboys and Washington for second place in the division, behind the Eagles, so I'm gonna give the Cowboys a 9-7 or 8-8 record. Again, I don't believe we will necessarily lose to the Cowboys, but it could be a "trap game," if we aren't careful.
Why is it people think the tacks have our number? We've split every year since 2009, except last year. Yes, the first meeting last year the tacks legitimately beat a tired team that had a sudden rash of bad luck. I don't even count the second game as it was quite obvious the Jags were looking beyond. The game plan was pretty basic and the defense was conservative, not an all-out effort. I really don't fear anyone in the division. Tacks have inconsistent Mariota, new offensive scheme, and who is he going to throw to beside Walker? There will be a decline. We know what Watson brings and it plays into Jags defensive style. The Colts may have Luck back but even if he starts firing on all cylinders, that defense is so bad. New England and KC could be tough. The others on the schedule are an unknown for this season.

^True.
That game could've gone either way. It was a wild one to the end, for sure.
IIRC: Even with the Chargers losing to the Jags,, the Chargers were very close to going to the playoffs.
Didn't the 4th down heave for a TD by Cincy against the Ravens put Buffalo in instead of LA?
Correct me if I'm wrong though.
Regardless, they were still close.
