To me, humor has to be organic. Funny is funny in my opinion, whether it's slapstick, gross out, stoner or intellectual. I love all types of humor, as long as it's funny. I don't really prefer any form over another.
As far as Reynolds, he kind of got a resurgence, later in his career thanks to Norm McDonald's SNL parody of him on Jeopardy. So funny......
