That first catch was almost identical to the play Moncrief gave up the pick. Big difference.

8.  I wondered how the receivers would perform now that most are experienced, having spent at least a year in the offense.  It seems Cole is still our best WR.  He had the one deep passing play to him early.  he got open on another play on a post, but Bortles threw elsewhere incomplete.  Westbrook had some decent short catches that extended some drives.  While Moncrief had one catch, the abiding sense i got watching him was one of disappointment.  He seemed useless on jump balls/contested passes.  ASJ had a TD negated by a penalty, but he had a couple of catches and looked like he could become a contributor in the passing game.

5. If we are going to be honest then we should also say that Manning missed OBJ on two TDs in the endzone in which he beat Ramsey. Wide open plays, Manning just completely missed. They make those plays, we lose the game. Ramsey lost this matchup IMO. That being said... Ramsey was spot on accurate! OBJ makes Manning and it's not even an argument. Living in the area I know many Giants fans... lets just say they are VERY discouraged by Manning's performance today. 

8. I realize he didn't play last season, but wow are we going to miss AROB this season. Last season was unexpected, but this season Moncrief was signed to be his replacement. He is supposed to be our big receiver/jump ball guy. Moncrief couldn't hold AROB's jock. Will need Chark to learn in a hurry. Watching the Bears/Packers... AROB looks just like he did pre injury. Really sucks we let him go. Cringing watching Arob right now in a Bears uni.

We had a franchise tag...making him show us he was healthy for zero risk was the absolute no brainer move. How in the world did Arob escape us? On what planet did our FO think that Marqise and Moncrief was a better option than retaining the closest thing we've had to a blue chip pass catching threat since Jimmy and Keenan...as I said in the stud/dud thread, my heart is hurting right now.

I thought the Jags were in complete control the entire game. Why would we ask Blake to sling it? Just grind the Giants down and get out with a win.

Yep, with arob on this Jaguars team we would have won comfortably today.

NFL is close games. Road wins are tough. Playing an opener with a team that switched defenses is tough aa well. Play across the league is sloppy. Protecting players in meaningless preseason games is showing up in the season openers.

Those drops took Bortles out of rhythm and our game plans are suspect. I hope they learned today that it can't be all Fournett because him going out took the team out of sorts.

Yep, with arob on this Jaguars team we would have won comfortably today.

With a healthy ARob we would have won the SB last year.

This.  A road win against a good NYG team to open the season is huge.

When Fournette went down I thought they would try more misdirection plays and get their aggressive defense to over pursue. You’re right though, it seems like when they get a little bit of a lead they turtle up the play calling and rely on the defense to hold. That is going to blow up in their faces sooner rather than later if they continue this style of play.

This is essentially what cost us the game against the Pats in the postseason and it was a huge mistake I see they haven't yet learned from.

I think you look around the league there were some rusty starts to the season, but lets hope this has blown away the cobwebs and we can get back at it to beat the Pats.

I couldn't agree more. This pattern of getting out to a narrow to moderate lead and then relying on the D to hold it is a recipe for diaster (as it was in the AFCCG). Up 17 halfway through the 4th quarter, maybe but trying to kill most of the half? Will this be the Marrone/Hackett m.o.? Will TC allow this?
