Best player on the team thus far at his respective position...
1. Nortman ...I feel ashamed putting a punter down with the top spot but he has been fantastic in his role.
2. Poz ...impressive stat line 46 tackles, 1.5 sacks, 1 interception, not bad for a lame duck Mike.
3-5. Ramsey ...he has an arrow pointing up that may take him into top 5 at his position.
3-5. ARob ...guy can ball and targeted frequently by BB5.
3-5. Telvin Smith ...will be higher on this list by season's end, sometimes gets beat with aggressiveness.
Honorable mention... Malik Jackson, Ngakoue, Linder, Hurns, Lee, and Beachum.

It's Ramsey and it ain't close.

Telvin, Poz, ARob, and Linder? Are you sure it's not close?

I might say Ramsey too, but I wouldn't go as far as to say it isn't close.
I feel like from what you hear by analysts, Linder is the closest we have to an All-Pro type of player but watching the running game it's hard for me to reconcile that.
Telvin is probably playing at the highest and most consistent level.

I personally believe Ramsey is the reason our entire defense is improved.
I can put another center in the game and keep calling plays.
I can put another LB in there and we're still the same.
I can't do that with Ramsey.

Gotta be a defensive player
Poz or Telvin have been playing incredibly well

Pretty much the whole of the defense.
Specifically though, Ramsey.. It's too close to call.

It's understandably unsettling to rank a punter's performance higher than any other player on the team you root for. Much like with the Jaguars regarding Brad Nortman making a strong case as the team's best performer through this point in the season, Sam Martin has probably been the best performer on the Lions through 6 games. The common denominator is when the Punter outperforms all of the other players on the roster, a non winning record is likely until a player at an impact position on Offense or Defense emerges over the Punter as the team's best performer.

Quote:I personally believe Ramsey is the reason our entire defense is improved. This is just wrong. Very, very, very wrong. Weak LB's get exposed in the run game and get destroyed by screens or underneath pass routes. Center is arguably the most important position on the line, so you can't just plug in a player there and be okay. Do you remember the terrible snaps and blocking last season?

I will say that if Ramsey wasn't covering Alshon on that last play, he would've caught the pass and the Bears would've won the game more than likely. He is a very special player, but I still wouldn't discredit the other defensive players and say it isn't close.

Bortles. This team is a 3 win team without him and a 7-8 win team with him. A-Rob can be elite if he learns how to get separation from defenders.

Remember the good old days (1 month ago) when clowns on this board wanted telvin benched?
That was comical.

A QB in football is usually always the most valuable player, unless it's like Whitehurst or Henne. Bortles is not the best player though, not with his play right now.

Disagree. The Jags still have one of the worst o lines, running games, and head coaches in the NFL and Blake continues to make this team better. Somehow the Jags management don't know how to improve these areas.

So you are saying Bortles is playing at a pro bowl/all pro level? Or are you validating my point that he is the most valuable player?

You forgot the defensive ppg and Jaxson De Ville.

Defensive points per game are still #21. This is BEST ever in Gus Bradley era but not good enough for playoffs. #12-#13 is playoff level
