Yeah you look and tell me where it's "end over end". I'm sure that's an exaggeration and yeah it was wobbly but that should have been a catch period.

The throw looks much worse on the second slow motion replay of the throw. Arob certainly could and should have caught it anyway, but that was a duck.
Quote:That ball should have been caught no doubt. He should have had 280 yds 2TDs and 0 INTs. Did he play well in the 2nd and 3rd...no. He led the biggest comeback in team history but you would have thought he had 5 INTs and blew the game by reading this board...lol

If we are going to play the shoulda woulda hypothetical game and give Blake the Arob TD, then you have to be fair and take away the Benn TD. 99% of the time that's not a TD. Just 1 TD for Blake either way.
Quote:No. Those efficiency stats all have flaws. They favor check down artists have never take shots down the field.

Scouts don't look at those stats.
Newsflash... Blake isn't throwing the ball downfield this year either.

Either way we'd still have 17 points. Plus the possibility of not killing our offensive momentum for 2.5 quarters after that first drive. We probably would have won by more than 1 point had we scored that td to ARob

Bingo.

This team has a way of letting one play effect them for long periods of time.
Quote:28-32 TDs for a quarterback starting 16 games in today's NFL isn't even all that great.

Fitzpatrick had like 33 TDs last year.

Everyone is putting up stats. They're meaningless pretty much.

Just look at what quarterbacks are doing around the league.

As it stands right now, Bortles' QB rating is good for 33rd in the league.

That same metric wasn't that high in the days of Brunell for example. Having a QB rating of 80 or 85 was pretty respectable. Now that lands you in the bottom of the NFL. The NFL is much different now. We have to look at Bortles in the context of today's NFL, and not compare him to QBs in the 90s and say "wow, he threw 35 TD and for over 4000 yards"...
^^Bingo!

If a QB can stay healthy and play all 16 games, he should be around 3800-4200 yds and at least 28-32 TDs. That is normal.

They should average:

2TD for 16 games = 32

250yds for 16 games = 4000

Last year, pretty much all of the QBs that played the whole year were between 28-35 TDs and around 4000 yds.

Jags fans just don't get it. Bortles has ZERO running game- like the worst in the NFL hands down.

Cam Newton 2015- 35 TDs and 3837 yards = MVP

Blake Bortles 2015- 35 TDs and 4428 yards

Cam Newton 2016- 8 TDs and 1296 yards

Blake Bortles 2016- 8 TDs and 1321 yards

So what's the difference???? Between MVP and average QB in Jags fans eyes? Well in 2015, Cam had the best running game and best defense in the NFL. This year he's (1-5) without a defense and an average running game.

Defense is on the right track IN JACKSONVILLE but still #21 in ppg allowed, needs to be top 12 to be playoff caliber. Give Bortles a running game and these same Jags fans will be saying he's a top 5 QB in the NFL

Jags used to have Fred Taylor and Maurice Jones-Drew along with solid defenses that carried them. If Bortles has an elite RB, and not a backup like Yeldon, the offense would be scary. Ivory is good but always too banged up to rely on. Ivory and Yeldon are two good backups but neither are starters on a playoff caliber team.

Quote:Intelligent people don't make conclusions 5/16 games into a season. You do realize he's outplaying last years MVP Cam Newton right now right?

Wake me up when 13/16 games are through. Educated people don't draw conclusions after 30% of season.

i'm not basing anything out of 5/16 games... i'm basing it out of the entire picture, his 3 years here and his entire body of work.

why don't you add in Newton's rushing numbers and touchdowns?  conveniently left that out didn't we?

why don't you mention that Newton only threw 10 INTs last year compared to Bortles' 18.

If we had last year Bortles on this year team, we win this game.  We still may but it's dis-heartening seeing this regression.  Hope he pulls out of it.

double post.

The rushing game and defense is actually the difference.

Carolina the past 2 years has 26 rushing TDs and the Jags have 8. The Panthers 141 yards rushing and Jags 91.

That's not including the defensive difference.

Once again, Bortles isn't the problem. See why Cam Newton is 1-5 this year. Is Cam Newton the problem?

Quote:So far Bortles has outplayed Flacco, Luck, and Hoyer back to back to back and had a better PFF ranking score than Aaron Rodgers in opener yet Jags fans think they can do better at QB.

Bortles will outperform Carr as well and they will still complain.

I think this is the key. His confidence seems to be tied to the other qb he is up against. In the green Bay game he seemed bent on besting Rodgers and was willing to punch it out vs rivers. I didn't see the Ravens game, but he seemed full of purpose against his AFCS rival luck. He was fierce in his first Drive against Chicago but facing Hoyer didn't seem to move the needle. The fire didn't seem to kick in until he faced the daunting challenge of leading is back from the brink of defeat. I think we'll see that same fire against the Raiders. No way he doesn't know how often he is compared to carr.

Cam Newton played one less game this year due to a concussion and nearly rallied back from 21-10 in the second quarter last week. Scored 3 TDs in the 4th quarter and only lost the game 3 points in a 38-41 game. Bortles gets that far behind and the game is over. That's why he isn't the MVP.

Bortles is MUCH more consistent than Cam. Cam is one of the least consistent QBs in the league. Cam has ONE giant game and 2 bad ones in a row.

"MUCH" more consistent?! Dude... You are so far up Bortles butt it's not even funny.

Cam had a stretch last year where he threw 13 TDs in 3 games... including a 350 for 5 TDs, no picks and 100 yards rushing.

I'm not saying Cam is consistent every week but my god... He is WAY more consistent than Blake. The only Blake consistently does is turn the ball over.

Cam Newton has some of the worst QB'd games in the league. He's wildly inconsistent vs. GOOD defenses. He gets all his stats playing the Saints, Falcons, and Bucs defenses.

maybe they're both playing like crap.
Quote:Ok kid. Sorry I had to educate you and tell you the truth. I'm 33 years old and a part owner of a multi million dollar independent insurance agency in Brevard County. Again, I didn't mean to embarrass you. It's just funny when message board kids think they know so much.
You're a complete moron. You're a nobody, and your childishness is appalling for a grown [BLEEP] man.

Did Hillary write that for you?
