Ever since Chris Ault popularized the formation at Nevada, every fan has clamored for their team to use it in some respect because well... it sounds really cool!

But to be honest, it's not just arm chair coaching for the jaguars. It's actually a perfect marriage of the strengths of their backfield!

(Disclaimer: I know Fournette is not healthy as of right now but he'll be back eventually; and Yeldon runs between the tackles very similarly stylistically so it's not like this idea is contingent on Lenny being back there.)

Fournette is a runner that is at his best when he can run downhill with a head of steam, so naturally shotgun isn't ideal for him even though he's still pretty good at running out of it.

Blake seems to perform significantly better passing when in shotgun from what i've seen thus far in his career. While he's improved under center, the extra few yards into his drop at the start of a play allows him to see the field better, make checks, and buys him time to get his obnoxious windup to throw out before the rush can get to him.

So why not compromise and run pistol concepts? this allows Blake the extra space to operate when throwing, and still allows LF27 to run downhill... and most importantly preserves the integrity of play-action.

Has anyone else thought about this? seems like a no brainer to me.
