It’s Monday morning and yes, we can stew on the bad loss but I see no point in it. It is what it is. I had a few thoughts on the matchup with Houston...
- as the title suggests, both teams have a bad O-Line right now. I would like to think the Jags have the slightly better one, as of now, but we’ve seen them get whipped at least in pass protection. They are definitely still good at run blocking as evidenced by Yeldon’s good running these past games. Honestly, our D-Line needs to feast and they should, but I worry about containing Watson; we didn’t do that with Prescott so I sincerely hope....
- We stop playing. Zone. Please. For all that is good stop. We need to go back to man coverage, rush four: maybe spy Watson with Jack. He has the speed to do so. I know it’s easier said than done, and it’s players, not plays, but the coaching staff has admitted they’ve been running too much zone. It has to stop this weekend
- Watch the Tennessee-Houston film. The Titans beat the Texans, minus their starting QB and premier offensive lineman. Sound familiar? They got very creative, running wildcat plays, fake special team plays, etc. we have speed with Westbrook for stretch runs, reverses. E.g, don’t run a reverse with a slow tight end. We could also throw Kessler in on a few plays to confuse the defense as Houston hasn’t seen that look from the jags before.
Just my two cents. First truly must win, high stakes game of the season IMO. Pull out all the the stops.
