The guy had his fingers in all sorts of businesses, including being an NFL and NBA owner.  All because of a silly little thing like an operating system he and Bill Gates managed to develop and license to IBM as PCs were just taking off.

Paul Allen, the co-founder of Microsoft, died on Monday from complications of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, his family said in a statement.
