The super bowl talk is done. At this point are we even a playoff team?
Also if we miss the playoffs is Marrone on the hot seat? I would say no bc he just needs a QB and a WR.
No, we're not a playoff team(right now). There's still a ton of football left to be played, we show that we can beat the Texans, it'll tell us a lot about our playoff hopes, because Titans are looking as bad as we are at the moment.
The AFCS is very weak at the moment. Win the division and they're in.
The Jags matchup very well against Pitt, Ravens, and Pats (teams that they could likely face once there). Jags seem to always have the Steelers and Ravens beat.
But right now, they need to get it together. This week's game vs the Tinhorns is a very important one.
We have the quality and ability to be and I still think we will make the playoffs. Then it's anyone's.....
Go back 2 weeks, we were 3-1, stupid loss to them but beat the Pats and Giants. Now we go into KC and play the hottest team in football and if not for Blake's mistakes, we had a shot. Then we go to Dallas, the walking wounded, Dallas got a lot of luck (2 Prescott fumbles), the O line was getting hammered and we fell behind big and early and that was that. Watching back at the Dallas game, we played that like it was preseason, and I'm not saying that acceptable.
This is the time we find out what team we have, who are the leaders? Who's the guy who wants the ball? Has this team turned a corner or was last year a one off?
We owe someone a whopping and Houston are coming to Duval. Prepare to be hit.
yes we are a playoff team. We do not have playoff coaches
The only way we make the playoffs is winning the AFCS.
Won't be any 8 or 9 win wild card teams from the AFC this year.
Pitt, Balt, Cincy, NE, Mia, KC, Chargers all legitimate playoff teams. (7 teams for 6 spots, not even talking about AFCS teams)
Perhaps we win at home vs the tinhorns.... perhaps we surprise in London against the Eagles.
Maybe then we could gain back some confidence... but for now, we're only a playoff team by default IF we win the division. tinhorns 3 game win streak, tacks with tie breaker right now over us
As of right now? Barely. It really depends on what happens this weekend and in London the following weekend. If they fall to 3 - 5 there's a good chance we're not making it at all this year. They still have some tough games on the schedule.
The Eagles, Steelers, Dolphins and Redskins are all competing a little bit better this year. And with this defense and offense having it's head up it's [BLEEP]. Who knows?
Doug and Tom may need to sit down and ask these guys who wants lunch for the rest of the year. Or tell those overpaid lineman in the interior to grit it out.

With a relatively healthy Leonard Fournette soon, I think the expectation should be the Jaguars being a playoff team providing injuries don't continue to mount anywhere close as already has been the case this season.
Barring a massive collapse, I don't think Doug Marrone belongs being anywhere near the hot seat. Marrone came extremely close to leading the Jaguars to the Super Bowl in his first full season as HC of the team. This after the team being near the bottom of the NFL for several seasons. The Jaguars injury situation on Offense is one of the most pronounced I've ever seen for an NFL team this early in a season.
And as far as Marrone potentially being on the hot seat? Honestly?
I think he's already there. If this team gets embarrassed a few more times like they just did in back-to-back weeks and they miss the play-offs they'll be reevaluating everything in 2019. The staff, roster, etc. We'll have enough pieces in place to where the team shouldn't fall off a cliff talent wise. But we may need a more experienced offensive coordinator and defensive coordinator if Marrone can't figure out how to fix it himself.
At some point if whatever it is that Hackett and Wash thinks is going to work, and it's clearly not working at the moment. I think the last two games speak for themselves.
I would imagine he shakes up the staff personally just to cover his own [BLEEP].
The offense right now is atrocious though. They really haven't been that good at all this year. At least not consistently good.
13 points in New York
31 points against New England
6 points against the tacks
31 points against New York
14 points in Kansas City
7 points in Dallas
This offense is unpredictable. And if Bortles is off. The entire team is off. He can't carry this team. It is what it is. But if everybody outside of this market can see that. Obviously that locker room can see it. So again, the question is. What in the [BLEEP] are Marrone and Hackett going to do about it? That win over New England isn't all that impressive anymore. Now that New England has Edleman back and they've got Gordon involved?
They're right back to where they were last year. This team don't want no part of them when and if, BIG IF, they make it to the play-offs.
This entire team needs to shut the [BLEEP] up for now on. Get back to basics. Get back to what worked last year or at least get better in the coaching department and try to find ways to move the football. Just tired of the excuses.

I agree with you. You have a coach that took the Jags to the playoffs with All Pro CBs and an MVP type DE with this great defense, but all of a sudden you miss the playoffs the following year.
Playoff team? Ask me after the squealers come to town.
I think Khan has shown he's a patient man and will not overreact to a one year dip - if that's what happens - due to an avalanche of injuries.
What I'm curious about is how the QB position will be evaluated. I don't think it's being too melodramatic to think that Bortles is playing for his long-term future in Jax over the next ten games. He needs to pull out a couple of big wins or things could get ugly.
It's really hard to say right now. We've seen this team play dominantly. We beat the patriots tail week 2. But in hindsight, that was week 2. They are a completely different team now; and it seems so are we. Injuries have destroyed our offense and what was a strength (Oline), is now a huge weakness. And now the defense is showing their breaking point. There's only so much the defense can take; both physically and mentally. They aren't going to be able to dominate when they play the majority of a half because the offense goes 3 and out on drive after drive after drive. I seriously don't know right now. We have the talent to be a great team. But I think the coaching staff and injuries are really hurting us right now. To keep my response short (bwahahahaha), I say no we are not right now.
It's too soon to say we're not.
I expect the defense to get better. There are game plan changes that can be made to make the offense more effective even with the rash of injuries.
Right now I'd say playoffs, yes. SB, no.

Hot take
Playoffs? Not right now.
Marrone? I'd love to see change problem is Bortles is guaranteed to be here in 2019. This was a problem when searching for a HC. Nobody wants to be tied down to Bortles. No legit HC is going to want to come in with Bortles here, so regardless I think Marrone is here 2019.
If the AFCS had any team playing worth a darn, the answer would be a resounding 'No.'
The fact that we are as sloppy as we are, and still in consideration is telling. I do not think we will be in the postseason this year. The line and lack of a run game will be our downfall.
