Does anybody honestly think that Carlos Hyde is the difference between this team winning and not winning the super bowl? I hope he is, but history says nah. So it's a waste of a draft pick. Now the question is do they double down on this mistake and actually keep him and his $5 million on the roster next year.

Carlos Hyde will cost us a whopping $970,000 this year and the odds of finding a player the caliber of Hyde in the 5th rd (btw Hyde was picked in the 2nd) are slim.
And yes, having a healthy starting caliber RB on your roster will improve any team's chances of winning a super bowl.

I'm not saying the 5th round hit rate is a coin flip, but if it does hit it is so much more valuable than a 10 game stint of Hyde that it makes the overall gamble a coin flip to me.

I just disagree that our lights have been shut off in the first place. Yeldon has been doing an excellent job averaging 5 yards a carry, reliably catching the ball, and blocking well as always. We could be riding him until the bye and then see where we go from there. Obviously the coaching staff disagrees with Yeldon being able to carry a higher workload for whatever reason though.

5th round picks are crap shoots.
At least we know what we're getting with this investment.
Using Telvin Smith possibly the best 5th round pick ever is not fair either (also... Telvin is far from a perfect LB either)

When your 3rd down back is the only RB capable of getting any significant amount of touches and you have to hold back your running game to minimize the risk of losing him too, you have RB corp woes.
This team is is WIN NOW mode and not rebuild.
A 5th round pick for a RB who can contribue today because our 4th overall pick is constantly hurt is a no brainer.
Anyone questioning this move should be examined for brain damage. Rarely is a 5th round pick a difference maker. Hyde could be a difference maker for the Jaguars this year.
If you have any problem with this trade then you simply dont understand football. Thats not an insult, its a fact. Get mad at it all you want and it still wont change.
My bad. Hyde will definitely fix this teams problems.
Bortles was the leading rusher with 30 yards.
I'm expecting to see a big dose of Hyde next week.
