Revert to this offseason, where he talked about how he was trying to improve Borltes. He told him to STOP running the ball and to SPREAD the ball out more and SIT in the pocket.
Well, he got exactly what he asked for. Blake has been timid, reluctant and less confident than last year being held back by a system that clearly does not favor him. Blake is not Peyton Manning, he is at his best when rolling out of the pocket looking for an open receiver and also scrambling. Scrambling can be lethal, that doesn't mean he just runs every play, but if no-ones open, he needs to run. Olsen has taken that out the gameplan and Bortles is forcing things to players who are not as good as the players who do perform.
The ball is spread out enough, we dont need to force it to Lee or whoever to move the chains, JUST MOVE THE CHAINS. Give Blake his mojo back. Give him a chance to succeed and the offense will be much more fluid.
Olsen needs to go back to last years gameplan, or be let go. We got lucky that Bears are awful, now make a gameplan for the Raiders that will help Bortles succeed.

They seem to have over coached him to work on his short passing game, he is starting to force short passes and not working in the intermediate where he belongs.

over coaching is spot on. Theres an old saying "dont fix what is not broken". That is exactly what they tried to do to Bortles this offseason. Critique his game but it has backfired tremendously.

Strip it back to basics.
Bortles is a decent QB and has the potential to be better than that.
Olson needs to let Blake stay in shot gun and run his 2 minute offense.
Olson should lose his job after the performance of the offense today. The offense plays better when he's not allowed to huddle the guys up and call a dumb run up the middle.

You must have missed the Kabillion times Ivory has run a shotgun draw off tackle for a 2 to 4 yard loss. Or are you saying we need to play like Madden and throw every play?

Well it will take time to gel. Remember Ivory has been out with a groin injury.
Bortles is a grown man and I expect him to perform well in his role with the weapons he's been provided. Hopefully we address the OLine hard this offseason, but he's got outlets for the ball.
I'm a Bortles supporter but he's gotta improve. Period.

Yeldon didn't do anything either, and he's much better suited to run the shotgun draw. Olsen has like 10 play calls per game where I just know the man's on drugs. We have yet to commit to running the ball up the gut, behind a fullback (my preference), and behind the big guys in the middle. No. We run shotgun draw plays with a short-yardage RB (with a gelling groin apparently) or slow developing plays behind unathletic linemen is what we're dealing with right now. Olsen loves the misdirection confuse you stuff, and these guys aren't there yet. Smash mouth run game, play action and rollout, block your guy in front of you then go get the next one. Olsen needs to simplify some [BLEEP] bc I'm losing my head over here trying to figure what drugs he's on. Screens and draws are great but not as your go to.
