Yea I'm sure we would have dumb lucked our way into drafting a franchise QB in the 3rd round. If only the Jags had drafted... <looking to see the next QB drafted after our 3rd round pick>.... Kyle Lauletta, we'd be on our way to the Super Bowl!

Should’ve taken Lamar Jackson.

This is so true. Man we could have had Mahomes or Watson.
Hard pass on Watson. He flashed for a few games last year. Then teams got tape on him. On this season, he's 29th in passer rating. But I understand what you're saying. We've had opportunity to upgrade and didn't.
(10-21-2018, 05:47 PM)Andy G Wrote: [ -> ]The question for me is “can we fix this, or is the team broken?”
I think a combination of injuries, a lack of quality additions in the summer, inexperienced receivers and just bad play have created an offense which simply can’t function.
And the defense isn’t capable of keeping us in games right now.
We’re not getting Robinson, Lee, Paul, Grant or Mickens back and ASJ is also gone for a while, so unless Fournette gets back soon, I don’t see how we fix this.
Sorry to be pessimistic, but is there some glimmer of hope I’m missing?
We have zero playmakers on offense anymore. They are all injured. Bortles isnt good enough to win games by himself and we currently have no one on offense that scares opponents. Injuries have killed our season. Plain as can be.
Kessler isnt going to turn our season around. And the only injured guy who might come back to make a difference is Fournette. We essentially need Bortles to make some kind of fantastic jump in his level of play. And that doesnt look likely.
Moncrief and Cole are complete garbage. Our tight ends are garbage. Our starting RB is out.... our QB has many flaws and those flaws are even more noticeable now when he doesn’t have playmakers like ARob bailing him out.
Unfortunately help is not on the way. We hitched our wagon to Bortles but left him incredibly unsupported by any playmakers. That’s how you lose games and lose jobs.

Theres no way he doesn't bolt when his contract is up. Heck I wouldn't be surprised if he holds out for a trade next year.

That's fine. But the point is it's a terrible analogy. Nobody "moves on" from their starting QB by taking his replacement in the 3rd round. Seahawks got lucky. Plain and simple. And based on this guy's dumb argument we actually are the 2012 Seahawks because Cody Kessler was a 3rd rounder. So we also landed our 3rd round QB in the offseason. Only difference is we didnt get lucky. They did. Terrible analogy.

Exactly. I am sure guys like that point out that the seahawks were TRYING to roll with Flynn, not Wilson, and it was a totally busted FA selection, much to their happiness.
Sometimes things just work out like that.
We are due. Any way you slice it, they have taken a QB, who I love for so many reasons, and removed any ability to have confidence, have any weapons, and find any rhythm at all.
Blake's fumbles were fine examples of trying to do too damn much, because no one evidently is going to do it, and he just can't do that......it created a circular apathy of going through the motions.
It starts with a plan, and they don't seem to have any measure of faith in the plan, on either side of the ball.
You can feel it.
And this team does the opposite of making the other team defend every blade of grass. You can say "Blake Blake Blake" all you want, but I don't know how you can be successful with no running game, no willingness to throw outside or downfield, and receivers who drop every 4th pass, and one a game into the opponents arms.
on to london so jags can break record for most points allowed in 1st half ever in nfl. Eagles have a super bowl defense. final score eagles 64 jags 7
What do you expect? When you have a bi-polar QB, your team becomes bi-polar.. Never wanted Bort in the first place, but what do I know?

Defense already breaking. We might have too many players get props last year. I don’t know if we’re going to be able to correct the ship without some major changes. Tuesday’s deadline might be a big day for us......

If I was Marrone after last weeks debacle I would have gotten out front of this by putting it to a team vote. Pass out 51 slips with both Bortles and Kessler’s names on them and let the guys who went through training camp and practice every week decide who is going to lead them, and the minority vote has to go along with what ever the vote is until the end of the season without any gripes. At this point you might as well play hard and look good on film for our own payday.

How to lose the team 101 with Indecisive Leadership lab. Interesting strategy there Cotton.

The team is already lost. At this point it’s a pirate ship anyway, so let democracy reign. Not like there isn’t going to be a clean sweep coming soon anyway.
Boy, it's sure great to see [BLEEP] 2008 happen again.

Can't have a player vote.
A clean sweep of what?

If this team continues it’s current trajectory it’s hard to imagine anyone’s job is safe if maybe the exception of Coughlin. You can’t go from being a team 30 minutes away from the Super Bowl to one with this level of disfunction and not expect some changes in the offseason. Let’s be real about this.

Pass out 51 slips and let them vote LOL... What is this, elementary school all of a sudden?
I’m officially in I don’t give a [BLEEP] mode. Trade fowler and a pick for Cooper. Call Dez. Call Kap. Trade for Staley. There’s so much going on, screw it! Geesh could this nightmare get any worse? I never saw this coming after week 2....
