Quote:Is this your way of coming full circle on your "Hurns can't catch with his hands" narrative?

Lol I'm surprised you remember that

No these are two completely different topics. Hurns is still a body catcher but he makes it work.

I think you are still in denial on Hurns' abilities, but whatever.

I don't care if he catches it with his butt as long as he catches it. Lol.

No I like him. Body catching is good for going over the middle. In worried about his head though. He is getting his bell rung a lot.

Agree. But Lee with his leaping ability and overall skill set I think still has higher ceiling.

If lee lives up to his potential he could be as good if not better than Arob. That's a tall order at this point tho. I'm good with him getting his feet wet with these catches that allow him to get yards after the catch.
it's good to see him making plays. Wasn't sure we would ever get to see it. Glad we are now.

Lee also had two helpful PI calls in this game when he had his man beat.

Once in the end zone and once on a deep sideline route.

Thanks!
Quote:The routes he is running are still the easy mode routes. Slants, speed outs, screens...everything short with YAC. That he is dropping ~9% of those easy types of passes might not actually be a sign that his hands are getting better, but maybe they are...that's why I said it's hard to tell at the moment.

That's not surprising, considering he's a guy that wins with quickness and speed, these route concepts take advantage of Lee's strengths. He's run some vertical routes too, Blake missed him on a would-be 75 yard TD against Baltimore a few weeks ago. Lee has the talent to overtake Hurns as the 2nd option in this passing game, Hurns is a guy that is better suited for the slot because he lacks the dominant physical traits to win (consistently) on the outside.

Quote:Because calling for a player in his rookie contract to be cut due to two injuries is really, really stupid.

I don't get that.

But it was a very popular opinion around here.

And his drop percentage was nothing alarming at all. That was blown out of proportion.

Feel free to refute that after looking it up.
Players don't produce due to injury or otherwise and fans get restless. They guy was nicknamed the albino tiger which should say something about his inability to stay on the field. Not that hard to see it. Also the comment I was replying to said nothing about hate in his rookie year. Its not like he was out for a few games or even a year. We are going into his third year and he is finally hitting the field. Glad he is doing well now but up until then what had he done in the NFL to not warrant some hate?

Fair enough. Were you ok with the fragile Fred moniker as well?

In the moment yes, but looking back we all realize he wasn't as fragile as the name implied. Its all about knee jerk reactions. Im guilty at times. Trust me Im really happy that Lee is out there doing well. As shaky as Bortles can be at times I want him to have as many weapons as possible.
How much longer til Lee records a 100 yard game?

If that's even possible.

The point I'm driving at is to have patience. A hammy can be tricky. It's not like he was refusing to play. He actually kept coming back too soon. Sounds like someone who wants to be on the field.

Yeah, we're just going to have a big difference of opinion here. I think that  ^ opinion is ill-formed, unfair and ludicrous. That's fine. You're entitled to feel that way if you choose.

I don't "hate," in any sense of the word, on a guy for being hurt when he's clearly trying to fight through it. He expressed his frustration with the situation vehemently to the point where he was coached to tone it down in interviews.  He even commented on that when his tone changed with the press.

It's unfortunate it took until year three for him to start stringing together solid production, but he has talent worth waiting for IMO.

Maybe you haven't noticed, but our QB is having a rough go of it currently.  No one has recorded a 100 yard game on this WR corps this season.

He's got a good chance this week actually. Raiders are last in the league in passing yards per game allowed.
So yeah... Happy to see Lee finally start performing on the field.  That's a good thing.

Just throwing this out there... as a random thought I had.. but Lee is going to be up for contract along side ARob.

We know ARob is going to get PAID.

We already gave a pretty solid payday to Hurns.

Lee... has not really done anything yet to warrant such a payday, meaning he's more likely to be resigned for a smaller, shorter deal (smaller because he hasn't proved it, shorter because he'll likely want to come back to the well after proving it).

If Lee had 3 years of solid performance to bring to the table, his pricetag would likely be higher..

So maybe we get the Albino Tiger Discount this contract round!
