If two games out of sixteen are what you guys are referring to when you say first/last place schedule....WOW!
Think of it this way.... Anyone scheduled to play us last year, by way of that rule (we were a last place team coming off a 3-13 season), got a lot more than a " last place" team.
Yes, the biggest difference is when your conference foe with the AFC West because the difference between facing the 1st or last place teams in the AFC East and AFC North are playing the Patriots or Bills/Jets and also playing the Steelers or Browns. This year we all played the AFC East so our difference was getting the Steelers vs Browns and also getting the Chiefs vs Raiders.

Aren't there statistics for this stuff? What good would words do when actual numbers make the argument? OP just literally tried to make an argument based on memory.

Good grief. It's all a formula. The league doesn't 'give' them anything.
Better to just ignore it and enjoy another cold beverage. Logic isn't going to change's some people's mindset.

There is no argument here. People frequently speak of first and last place schedules as though they are a huge benefit or problem that teams hope for or against every year. This is not true.
The only thing that has to do with my memory in that post was substantiated by the link provided....I remembered correctly.
