Quote:I maintain my original point. When did we become a country where public perception is considered before safety when a cop is in danger.
When too many bad apples spoiled the barrel to the public and the good apples are worried?

Did you miss the part where I said that cops putting their lives second behind public perception is a problem?

Honestly I may have. My husband was talking to me as I was reading and posting. Apologies.

Yep. It makes me sad that I live in a time where this is even an issue.
Quote:It's the War on Cops started by our benevolent omnipotent leader and his cronies in the BLM movement

What does this have anything to do with BLM?

Black people who are not republican and protest against police brutality are "terrorist".

No.. the people who attack and kill cops, incite riots, loot CVS's for drugs and destroy property are terrorists.

Inspired by and backed by the BLM "movement".  It's about the same as the "movement" I had this morning after eating some killer Italian food.

We are on the same page then!

I'm smoking some pigs for thanksgiving, wanna join in?

You don't shoot someone in the leg and hope the threat stops in that situation. You end the threat.

If more cops shot unarmed people in the legs before going for the kill shot, there'd be a lot less BLM protests.

I am in no way defending abuse of power and lethal force by cops but that's not how guns are used. When a cop does need to use their gun they can't be expected to take aim and try and hit a limb. Everyone, from what I understand in armed forces and law enforcement are trained to aim at center of mass because the point of the gun isn't to injure or wound, it's to end the threat. It's just not realistic to ask them to be shooting at legs.....

More than half the time, the cops don't know if they're armed or not. That's why you comply and not act aggressively. Their first priority is to go home to their families at the ends of their shift. If you pose a threat to that, they go home and you go to the morgue and I agree with that..

Comply and there's no problem.

Yeah I sincerely doubt that.

We would also have more hurt or dead cops.

BLM is a joke.

Yep. The point of using a gun isn't to wound someone in those situations. The gun is the last resort and is called lethal force for a reason.
Real life isn't like the movies: no one shoots the gun out of the bad guy's hand, no one shoots to wound and everyone runs out of bullets faster than they think they will.

In this case the guy was clearly drunk or on drugs as he was walking away from an accident. He didn't comply. He had no weapon. I'd have winged him.

Then you deal with lawsuits.. That's why they have tasers and that's the appropriate time to use em. Cops aren't perfect and they don't claim to be. Though they do have extensive training, fatal errors still happen. There's definitely been some instances of blatant carelessness and murder by some cops, and that's unfortunate. But the majority are out there risking their lives for ours and those cops deserve our respect.
