From my understanding the offsets are just predicated on him signing for another team, the amount doesn't matter.

and if not, Blake would definitely get that in FA anyway. Matt Schaub makes 4 mil a year as a backup and he signed two years ago. Aj Mac makes 4 million a year, Blake has 4 years of starting experience and is still young enough for teams to be swayed. He'd be one of the best backups in the league.

Blake will have a chance to be on the Jags roster next season....

Kessler will be cut,  we might try to get Henne back though....

Bortles may or may not be back,  but Kessler will not be on the team next year.  He is horrible with no upside.

He might be ultimately be cut but he does have some upside. For one, he's the best QB on the current roster and the coaches are familiar with him.
I still think that the FO finds a way to trade Bortles off this off-season somehow (Blaine Gabbert being exhibit A).  I'm not sure how they will do it, but it's a gut feeling.

In my opinion I think that for the remainder of this season he (Bortles) is the better option.  Kessler is just another less mobile Bortles that happens to throw a spiral.  However, I don't think Kessler will hold up getting hit as well as Bortles.
Your delusional if you think Bortles will be on the roster next year. He will either be traded or released.

...by taking a hefty pay-cut to be a back-up.

Even that is a slim chance since it's gonna' be a new playbook.
