Is that a natural talent, or do you attribute your skill to extensive practice?

I bat right handed and I'm a lefty. Batting left-handed feels unnatural to me. There is no way you can just switch to something you aren't used to. Hey OP why don't you try to write at a high level with your non-dominant hand and you'll get the same results Bortles will get trying to throw left handed.

I don't think he ever switched.  I think he just learned to throw right handed as a kid - even if it's not his most natural orientation. 

This is not uncommon for left handed kids.  I watched my parents, teachers and coaches try repeatedly to make my left handed brother do things right handed when we were kids.  

I also can't believe this thread is real.

I'm the same as a lefty I learned how to throw a football with my right hand. I play guitar and bass as a right hand dominant . no one thought of giving me a lefty guitar as a kid to learn on.

He should switch to running back he is better then anyone we got.

He plays baseball and golf as a lefty and I would assume has better mechanics in those sports than football, possibly he will have more arm strength as well?

You want to:

• take a 26 year old human
  
• teach him to perform a skill opposite of how he's done it his entire life
  
• then expect him to be one of the top 32 humans on the planet at doing that thing -- but backwards now

Showing loyalty to the home team is very important.

He was a TE in high school before becoming a QB. They should give him that opportunity.

There are a few left-handed cigarettes being smoked in this thread.

I recall the clamoring of the frenzied masses a few years ago for another Florida QB to be made into a TE.  The answer hasn't changed.

No way you designate him a TE on gameday.  It would blow up the franchise cap numbers at the position.  He would be the highest paid TE in NFL history to never catch a pass.

You absolutely do.  Kind of like the Pats putting Gronk in at Safety.   We could make Bortles the next Gronk and use him at TE and as a Safety late in the game.

I like the left handed passing attack as well to confuse the defense that would be studying film of him throwing right handed. Hard to stop QBs when you don't know which arm they will be using from game to game.  Also, with Bortles at Safety, Derrick Henry runs into a brick wall on his own 10 yard line for a gain of 9 yards, not 99 yards last week vs the Titans.
