The guy is awful in big games or really any game versus any quality opponent. Gonna get shut out vs an average Seattle team while having two of the best WRs in the game, Dalvin Cook, and a useful TE in Kyle Rudolph. We’d be really screwed hitching our trailer to this guy for 3 years. At least we can get out of blake’s contract. (However painful it is to do so)
I’m mad we didn’t draft Russell Wilson, Deshaun Watson or Pat Mahomes.

why they all suck at handing the ball off

I was just about to start a thread like this but you beat me to it. Cousins cost over $80 million of guaranteed money and has yet to beat a team this season with a winning record. His supporting cast is vastly superior to what the Jaguars had on offense this season. Pass on guys like Derek Carr, Manning and Flacco this off-season. They wouldn't cost as much as Cousins, but would still be a waste of money. Draft your future quarterback in April. Hopefully it will be Haskins or Lock.
4-24 against teams above .500...... Yikes
I’m probably by myself on this one, but I’m not mad we didn’t sign him. But I’m upset that we actually extended Bortles after he peaked in the playoffs.
Many of us knew he wouldn’t top that performance and he would turn back into Blake Bortles.
If I could redo this past offseason, I would have signed Kirk if I could. He is still better than Bortles and that windup he developed out of nowhere. He’s also better than Kessler.
However he wasn’t worth what he got paid.
Convenient that this is posted now and not after he lit up the first half of the season. He's definitely in a funk right now but his rate+ stats are still above average across the board. They'll emphasize fixing their league worst oline (yes, worse than us) and be fine next year.
What's the price difference? Bortles +Moncrief or Cousins? Why is this even a topic lol. Who here would actually take Bortles + Moncrief over Cousins... I must know...
just restart and draft an actual QB. No need to spend anything now .

Moncrief and Bortles will be gone after this year with 11 mill in dead cap space. Cousins is still owed 60 mil. No thanks on Cousins, give me a rookie. Not to mention, Cousins has one of the best receiving corps in the league and he would have one of the worst here. Cousins would be garbage here. The price difference is about 50 mil over the next 2 years
Cousins to me is like Matt Stafford in a way. He'll put up the regular season stats, do enough to get big contracts but he'll never be the guy to lead a team on a deep playoff run.
What have you done for me lately league. Seems like a lot of money for 6 and 6.
Can't lie he folded up real easy in that big game.

That still doesn't erase the fact that he's 4 - 24 against teams that are above .500 with one play-off loss on his belt with Washington. He's 32 - 35 - 2 as a starter. He's never played for a team that managed double digit wins in a single season.
He's overrated and overpaid. They're also currently 30th in cap space right now going into next year with just a little over $8M in space available. Going to be awfully hard to fix that offensive line in one off season. And then you have to factor in who they'll have to lose to balance it out.
Do they lose Thielen? Diggs? Rudolph? At any point those three guys could say "Hmm...making chump change compared to the rest of the guys at my position. Maybe I'll hold out for a little more before my contract expires. I want that extension".

Diggs already got a big contract. Rudolph is average at best. Not sure if Thielan has a new contract or not.
Cousins is not playing well right now. That’s obvious. But he’s still miles better than Blake and he would make this team better. I’m definitely on board with a rookie but Cousins is better than Blake.
I love the game to game analysis process of bashing fans for wanting to get better at the QB position. Cousins did not play well, but the final score is not reflective of the flow of the game. There were a lot of bad coaching decisions on the Viking side of the ball that took easy points off the board.
Cousins has and will continue to be below average at best.

If Cousins is "below average", who are some "average" NFL QB's in your opinion? I'd consider Cousins slightly "above average". Certainly not "elite"

They are all knotted up through 2020 - 2021 I believe. Maybe a little further. But you can see Thielen is becoming more frustrated with the offense. And after catching over 100 passes this year? He could dig his heels in the sand next off season and put them in a tough position to extend him, cut him or trade him.
I don't think anybody on here will argue nor contest that Cousins is by far better than Bortles. Anybody with eyes can see that. However, as many have already cited in this thread and probably numerous topics regarding this very same debate.
Cousins' supporting cast is also better with the Vikings. And if he had to play here? We would be even more [BLEEP] than the Vikings are for the next two years. We're already underwater at -$12M next year cap space wise heading into 2019. Could you imagine the backlash this fan base would have right now?
Cousins can barely keep up with QB's in his division like Stafford, Trubisky and Rodgers who is also playing on a lopsided roster with a dysfunctional front office. He would get his teeth kicked in trying to keep up with Watson and Luck in this division. Just like he got his teeth kicked in last night in Seattle.
I would have been all for Cousins during the off season. At a REASONABLE price. $84M guaranteed in full over the course of 3 years is just insanity. Especially for, again, a guy that's never really elevated the players around him during his stint in Washington.
I was trolled then and may get trolled now but I said long before that Cousins was TRASH. I'm happy we didn't sign him and I knew he would play like this. With these receivers and this beat up OL. we probably would have the same record.
Idk what Minnesota saw from him in Washington that merited 80 mil.
