Quote:Hostile, did you not understand what I was calling stupid? I am mad at LSU for demanding a game scheduled to be played on the road must switch to being played at home. The South Carolina game was played in Baton Rouge because the Gamecocks did not want to cancel it. Big difference. Because the Gators decided to play on a different weekend, it would have been possible to keep the game in Gainesville.
I get what you are saying, but unfortunately it's not how it works. Like I said, LSU gave Florida every opportunity to play the game the weekend as originally scheduled... including playing in Gainesville a day or two later.
Even AFTER the hurricane passed, things get more complicated because LSU still offered Florida two options to play he game IN Gainesville. First, LSU offered to play the game during their Oct. 29 bye, the week before they played Alabama. They wanted Florida and Georgia to play their game a week earlier during their bye. By doing this, every game gets played AND at the location as originally scheduled. That option was shot down. The second option was to move the SEC Championsip back a week and play the game on Dec 3 IN Gainesville. Once again, same matchup and same location. That option was shut down.
Floridas only contingency plan was to force LSU to give up one of their home games to play the game. So after all the ways LSU gave Florida to play the game in Gainesville, Florida wanted LSU to give up a home game, deny their fans a chance to come to an originally scheduled game, lose all the money that comes with a home game, deny recruits a chance to visit, and deny the community battling back from devastating floods and police shootings a home game as well?? Yeah, not a chance. No doubt, Florida was scared to play the game. They get what they deserved.

Do you honestly think that moving the fl/ga game or the SEC championship game were serious options?

No, LSU refused to play the game on their bye, the week before Alabama. Florida refused that date as well, and rightfully so by both.
And why would Florida be scared? What is to be scared of? They play them every year, they knew the game would likely get rescheduled if it wasn't played two weeks ago. What is to be scared of??
Moving the Florida-Georgia game or the SEC Title game back a week is laughable.
In the end both sides will end up being fine, and that is with the future schedules too. UF in the short term hurts financially, and LSU gets a boost, but the same thing will happen next season at UF and LSU respectively.
The local guys even said moving Fl/Ga were a no go with the schedule and the Jaguar games/fair.
Move the SEC championship...lol
What is wrong with moving the sec championship game? Venue jammed up?

Do you remember what happened in New Orleans after the Super Bowl had to be moved back a week? Kinda like that without the car convention.

I don't remember.

Lodging was a mess.
There is nothing at the Georgia Dome, but that Saturday is basically championship Saturday within college football and it aligns all of the college football bowl games/playoffs for December/January. Your not going to move a possibly meaningless LSU/Gator game and delay all of college football.

Plus it would upset Alabama, which is not even on Florida's schedule, because of the change in routine.
Why? It would just give Alabama one extra week to prepare. Let's say Florida plays LSU and if they win that game they are in, Florida is at a competitive disadvantage. Alabama has a week of rest and time to prepare while Florida has to play a tough game.
Alabama wont care either way.

I told you why: change of routine. SEC teams don't like messing with tradition.
We're a month and a half away from the game for teams to prepare for the change if anything were done. Please stop with this tradition crap.

I am not the one who brought up that part of it.

Might upset Saban... cuz he likes to [BLEEP] about everything.
Doesn't matter. Bama rollin over everyone this year...
kinda ridiculous... why even watch lol
The e-mails released from WBRZ's Investigative Unit shows some interesting tidbits.
According to LSU Athletic Director Joe Alleva's e-mails:
1) LSU REALLY, really wanted to play the the game the weekend as originally planned, whether in Gainesville or anywhere else. They even referenced how easy it was for GA/SC to reschedule their game (and how much sense it made). According to Aleva, UF's schedule is super easy... even easier than Tennessee's... and if they wanted to play the game they would.
2) They TOO thought Florida was scared. Their theory, as many others in the football community, was that if Florida lost (which was a more likely than not outcome) they would have been out of the SEC Championship and Playoffs.
3) The SEC's decision was a joke.
I don't understand this "Florida did not want to play the game" crap. They meet every year and are required to play for SEC Championship eligibility. Everyone knew it was going to be played sometime. That weekend Leonard Fournette was going to be out with an injury and he is back now. Everyone who accuses Florida of just being scared and not wanting to play the game is a Gator hater, obviously.

Actually, there was NO requirement for a SEC team to play ALL 8 games in order to play the SEC Championship. That is why the SEC has come out and said next year they will redo the rules and processes regarding situations such as these.
That is why me, the author of hundreds of articles, and the AD of LSU thought Florida was scared. Everyone knew that if Florida and Tennessee had the same amount of wins, Florida would go to the SEC Championship despite losing to Tennessee. That is since the SEC Bylaws states the team with the highest percentage of wins goes.
The decision to not allow UF or LSU into the championship game was done POST-FACTO. If you heard the SEC Commissioner, he said he was using Bylaw 4.4.2(e), which states he can interpret the rules, Bylaws, regulations, etc as he chooses, to interpret the 8 games as mandatory. But I promise you, you can't find a rule that actually mandates it. Hence, all the articles that came out after UF cancelled.
So the SEC Commissioner made up a rule on the fly because he was mad at UF is what you are saying.
Guess what? The very first article reporting the game had been canceled included a paragraph about the schools agreeing to reschedule for a later date.
