It’s absolutely true. Opioid use is at levels far exceeding opiates. There is a stat out there that states 80% of current heroin users first misused opioids. Heck, in most cases, heroin is even being cut with opioids like Fen to bump the high. Abuse of pharmaceuticals is at crisis levels and unlike heroin, it doesn’t care if you are from a low, mid, or high income area. Because of it’s generally excepted pill form versus needle or snort, opioids has an easy path to school aged children and prison systems as well.

Those already addicted maybe, but the addicts are being made by the pill problem.
It's always best to walk away from a thread like this and let it simmer.
