I do think Marrone is a good head coach but we could upgrade imo. We def. need to find an OC though and Dave needs to go for sure

Horrendous where he has picked?

You are just talking about top 5 picks.  If that were the entirety of the draft, I might buy that.

The 2013 draft really sucked overall.

In 2014, the one guy in the top ten we had the chance to draft that might have made a huge difference for us was Khalil Mack. But then we still may not have had an answer at QB.  The Raiders took Khalil Mack and Derrick Carr that draft, but still only made the playoffs once since 2014...just like the Caldwell led Jaguars.

In 2015, the sentiment on this board was for Leonard Williams instead of Dante Fowler.  I could see that Williams was the better player overall.  He did make the Pro bowl. But would he have had the impact last year that Fowler had?  I don't know.
Here's my biggest issue with this:

2018: "Hey, Mr. Coach, we've got an opening at quarterback, and we'd love for you to have a very active role in deciding who the QB of the future should be around here."
2019: "Hey, Mr. Coach, we really like your ideas and we want to hire you. Our quarterback is _____. How do you think you'd work with him?"

One of those gets you an inside track on any coach you want. The other gets you Doug Marrone. Personally, I'd take option A.

Do we really want our team to be in the habit of firing a coach after ONE (1) bad season?

That's the problem with half measures. There's always going to be someone who isn't fair to fire yet because he's only been around for X amount of time.

So to answer no it's not exactly fair to Marrone, but we've had 5 horrible seasons out of 6 now and it's time to start over from scratch. Not keep rearranging a deck chair here or there and expect major change.

This is the very definition of throwing the baby out with the bathwater.

I don't claim to know how much of the problem Marrone is or isn't .
But if keeping him is moving a few deck chairs -  then firing him is burning down the house because you didn't like the deck.

No, keeping something isn't the analogy, replacing portions at a time is moving deck chairs is the analogy...aka half measures. If you like my diseased tissue analogy from earlier that one is fine too. Until we make sweeping changes the symptoms are likely to continue. If we must throw out a proverbial baby in the process then so be it.

Especially when the baby has already made disastrous errors that got put on blast by the defending super bowl winning coach in a book. And then the baby said it wasn't an error, doubled down on the error, and then led us to a failed season.

You have a rare affinity for hyperbole.

It will be interesting to see if keeping Marrone with a new OC turns out to be a failed half measure or a winning formula.
The QB and O-Line factors may make it somewhat difficult to judge.
Hopefully not.
Hopefully Marrone lightens the reins on a more aggressive OC and an efficient passing game ensues.

to those stinken tittians. until Jags prove they can beat them they can't win rather in jacksonville tensse or netrual field.

Optimistic pessimism - if you look forward to the worst outcome, you will never be disappointed.

Honestly, the bigger shock in the headline for me was that Riverboat Ron was safe.
