You mean Golden Tate...the Eagles WR?

Yes, the Golden Tate that is about to be a free agent.

Yea and he hasn't done all that much so far.
He'd be an upgrade as long as we wouldn't get him killed.

If they want to "win now," they need a vet for next season.

I don't think it will be him, though.
This is a ridiculous rumor. We are gonna take a cap hit in dead money once we release Bortles and the addition of Stafford's massive contract would put us way over the cap by a mile. It's not gonna happen.

The adjustment for both Golden Tate and the Eagles into their Offense was more difficult than they expected.

For the Lions,  the trade of Golden Tate opened the door for this thread and threads like this to appear.  If Tate remained on the Lions and the Offense wasn't further derailed due to a long list of injuries,  the consensus perception of Matthew Stafford would likely be vastly different than it became.
30 years old, very expensive salary, he is having a bad season right now....sure let's trade for him #becausejaguars

Your first clause continues to be a presumption at this time. Trade for Stafford and roll that contract out 8 more years, ie The Coughlin Method.

"As Matthew Stafford prepares to become the oldest player in NFL history at age 48, there's no end in sight for the grizzled veteran who has 29 years left on his contract."

Meanwhile, his backup Blake Bortles continues to defy conventional wisdom with his duties."
