Probably not ideal for where Grier ends up on boards, but I'd be fine with it.
He'd upgrade the position and be ready to start after the bye if not sooner.

Possibly, but I think it woulld be to big of a risk if you like him and thinking you can get him later.

I don't think he's there in the second.
The Jags only options for Grier are probably: take him at #7 - or - get him in a shallow trade down

I don't think he's there in the 2nd, either.
The Raiders have two picks at the bottom of the first round and the early second round pick. I could see Gruden wanting Grier.
The Patriots, Saints and Bolts all have older veteran QBs and all need to groom replacements.
I am wondering if it wouldn't be better to trade down from 7 into the mid first than it would be to try to trade up from the second round into the bottom of the first of Grier is the target.

I would not be happy at all here. Grier at #7 would be a huge reach IMO. I believe you could trade down into the teens and get him. I'd much rather take a true top 10 type player, if we're staying at #7.

I am less sold on this proposition today than I was a few days ago.
Below us there are:
10. Denver-they just signed Case Keenum last year to a modest deal and expended no draft capital to get him. They have a new coach, and the new coach will likely want his own guy.
11. Cincinnati-Andy Dalton is decent, but has never won a playoff game and is no spring chicken. They have a new coach too.
12. Green Bay has two first round picks and a history of taking a QB and letting him sit behind a HOF passer to develop under...yep...a new coach.
13. Miami-The Tannehill experiment is likely over under...a new coach.
15. Washington-You saw what happened with Alex Smith, right? He may not play another down of football. Based on what I heard, he was fortunate to keep his leg.
Even if those guys fall past that point, trading back up into the bottom of the first is a tricky proposition as well.
Phillip Rivers is 37. The Chargers could easily be in the market for his replacement.
Brady is what 41? They just traded away Garoppolo. They need a QB to take over for Brady.
The Packers have the Saints' 1st rounder.
All of these teams are picking at or near the bottom of the first round.

Bullseye, you're beginning to sell me on Grier at #7 if Haskins is gone.
