I think this is a key decision this offseason, possibly the most important one.
We have finished this season with the offense being at the lowest point possible; decimated by injuries and totally uncertain futures at almost every position, including the most important position. It seems like this is a chance to re-evaluate everything we want to be as an offense. The lack of fixtures on offense should be seen as an opportunity to establish exactly what kind of offense we want to be (hopefully one from this century), and then start building the personnel around that vision.
A new OC can be vital to this, we need someone who has a clear vision of how an offense should be formed in today's NFL. They need to think bigger picture here and think what is the best scheme to win with on offense, rather than trying to come up with a scheme that will fit our underwhelming players.
Establishing what kind of offense we want to be is probably the biggest decision this offseason. It won't be easy and I don't expect them to suddenly have a high-flying passing offense next year, but you have to start somewhere. Unfortunately there is a high chance the team ignore the opportunity to reshape the offense and try once again to impose a heavy run based offense thinking it gives us the best chance to win now.
