Jags hire former Titans OC Terry Robiskie as RB coach, a role he hasn't had since 1987 when he was an assistant RB coach with the LA Raiders.  Granted he did play the position.

So, hiring all of our position coaches without an OC present?
Whoa!!
I am thinking Marrone is going to name himself OC at this point.

Do you know who handles the hiring of assistant coaches?

Hint: it’s not Marrone
Most of these guys never had primes.

Why not?

He should absolutely be leading the charge IMO.
Standard practice.
(though usually the OC would be in place and in the discussion as well)

Apparently not.

That includes having final say on the 53-man roster, free agency, the NFL draft, and, apparently, approving the hiring of assistant coaches.

.....

Coughlin also will apparently oversee the process of hiring assistant coaches. Marrone has already fired eight assistant coaches, including five defensive coaches, and said on Thursday that he will work with Coughlin in filling the rest of the openings on the staff.....

Robiskie's actually a well-respected coach from everything I've seen. He's been an interim head coach twice and hasn't completely sucked, so there's that.
FWIW, I’m ok with the Robiskie hire. Dude has a ton of knowledge to bring to the table and has overseen entire offenses. I don’t think RB coach will be that much of a daunting task. At a bare minimum, he’ll bring discipline to the RB room. And it certainly doesn’t hurt being a LSU alum.

That's a 2017 article that says TC has to approve the hires. It doesn't say he's choosing the coaches.

Has the structure of power changed since TC was hired? The date of the article is irrelevant.

Words like oversee, approve, and final say would make me think he has a ton of influence on the guys we are bringing in to interview, and ultimately hiring.

Spin it however you'd like.

I don't think this 2 year old blurb tells us anything new, and I don't think it means he's not allowing Marrone to lead the way in hiring his own staff.

If Coughlin is indeed running a dictatorship with Marrone's staff we have a big problem.
I'd hate to think Coughlin is going full dictator mode with this franchise. Doesn't bode well.

I don't see any evidence of that as of now.  I just see a team with no QB having an understandably hard time landing an OC.

Do you remember Coughlin’s first stint here? Dictatorship is putting it nicely. I hope this isn’t the case either but there is evidence beginning to show this is exactly what is happening. The hiring of position coaches before an OC is exhibit A.
Well maybe Robiskie can put a wrangle on these [BLEEP] RB's.. Breathe some new life..

Yes. I posted about my fear of that kind of thing happening again when he was hired.

I'm just not as convinced as you are that we are seeing that with these hires.  It's possible, but I'm not there yet with it.

FTR - I was on board with TC being fired for this very reason back in the day. I hope we aren't coming to that impasse again.
lol man... I really have no clue what they are doing. Why not get the OC input? Makes no sense.

But is he good at helping pudgy running backs find holes?
I'm totally good with Robiskie. I mean, after all, with a RB like LF, I'd assume 50% of Robiskie's job is going to be to mold LF's character and with both being LSU grads would seem to help the communication and respect. Let's face it, Tyrone Wheatley sure as heck didn't instill discipline to this RB group --- perhaps it's a lost cause but we shall see.
wow....he's been around a long time.....and was the OC for the tacks when they beat us twice in 2017
