Parham, the TE from Stetson might be worth taking in a late round. 6' 8" 240 pounds and supposedly has good hands.

I believe we all agreed that we would be drafting a TE this year, but this move should pretty much guarantee that now.

I think the question now becomes, do they go after 2 TEs in the draft, instead of just one? Maybe 1 FA and 1 rookie?

I knew the guy wasn't going to amount to anything in jax the day we signed him. Front office saw he probably got more fat during his injury.

Nothing like entering into a must win offseason with one of the worst groups of offensive skill talent in the league,and no QB!

What does it matter? The Jags don't throw to the TE anyways. Anyone making league minimum can be as successful as a high paid TE in this offense.

Until the offense changes, TE just needs to block and run routes where they never get the ball

Well hopefully under Flip, that will change.

I actually think the Jags do throw to TEs but they haven't had a playmaking one since.... Well maybe ever? Lewis and Kyle Brady were both better blockers than receivers. Julius was fat and slow. ASJ got hurt.

I thought that too, but with the way it has gone, they never look to them as the #1 option. You don't need a great TE to be successful.

Look at Doyle from Indy. What makes him special? He was tearing up and does nothing that the existing TEs on the Jags can't do. They just never call plays for the TE or the QB just never looks for them.

DeFilippo likes to use the TE position in his attack. O'Shaughnessy is a free agent. If ASJ is a cap casualty, the Jags will have to do something to fill the position to fit DeFilippo's MO.

Pete Mitchell for the post was the last one.  This team peaked with Passing Offense in 1999 and Rushing Offense in 2007.  I know we had good rushing last year but it isn't the same thing.  In 1999, if we needed to score we would (Well except if it was the Titans).  In 2007, we needed a yard, Fred, MoJo or even Toefield would get it.  In an offense driven league, we haven't had one.

Lewis and Brady both had a couple of good years receiving, but those were deviations and not the norm. Pete Mitchell was solid for a few years early on, but he even fell off the list as Brunell aimed the shots that used to go to Mitchell at his backs instead. You're right. We've had some great blocking tight ends, but we've never really had a TE that was a genuine receiving threat.

A young QB needs a TE to help him. Not to block for him, to catch passes from him. I'm of the mind we have zero starting TEs on our team currently, therefore we draft one in the 2nd round or 1st. They need to make this a priority.

This team has never really had a top tier TE who could block and catch. We had great blockers, and moderate receivers, but nothing that forced defenses to pay attention to them as a potential threat. ASJ is no different. The draft should give us some solid options. That TE will develop with whatever QB we bring in.

This guy has 116 receptions in 6 seasons. Why was he ever considered an answer at tight end?

His best season was 2017 where he had 50 receptions for a whopping 357 yards and 3 tds . He never really was a receiving threat.

A lot of talent and no production to match. We need to go TE in first 3 rounds and finally have a legitimate recieving threat at TE for the first time ever.

Pete Mitchell was thier 1st and best blocker/reciever, and thats going back to the expansion days.  Bring back Damon 'Big Sofa' Jones!

Kyle Brady was ok for awhile as well.

I think we need to draft two TEs in this draft. I am hoping for a pass catching TE/WR hybrid and a traditional TE who can block and catch occasionally.
