Amazon managed to pay $0 in federal taxes for 2nd straight year in a row and also pulled its HQ2 from NY.

I need to hire one of their CPA's.

Actually, they have paid zero to very, very little since their inception. They love Research and Development exemptions and stock compensation deductions.
Amazon is a monopoly, and not in retail, I mean in their web hosting services. They need to be broken up.

Is NFL ST really that popular anymore? Every person I know watches redzone.

Paying 30% instead of 50-60% is a loophole.

Paying zero is big old F U to the American people.

A Trumpist complaining about a leftist complaining about a Trumpist complaining about a double standard. Are we to the proper level of inception here? You guys get the hell out of whatever acid trip I have to be on right now. That's the only way this thread makes sense.

TrivialPursuit nailed it above.
Would you make up your minds! Are you socialists or not?
They actually got a tax rebate of 129 million....

essentially giving them a tax rate of -1%

lol

From Fox News:
The world’s largest online retailer, which is worth $795 billion, earned a record $11.2 billion in U.S. profits, according to the company’s U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filing earlier this month,  yet did not pay the 21 percent U.S. corporate tax, thanks to leveraging unspecified tax credits and stock-based compensation deductions.

Unspecified tax credits and stock based compensation deductions.

It isn't about the tax cut, it's about them avoiding it altogether.

Thanks, I need that!
Corporations don't pay taxes.

The corporation charges the highest price they feel that the consumer is willing to pay regardless of taxes.
If all of the corporations have the same marginal tax, and all the buyers of stock have the same marginal expectations of all corporations, and the market is perfectly competitive, then yes, the cost of a new tax will be passed directly to the consumer.
If any one of those things is false, the cost of the new tax is not passed on, or it could even be amplified.

They are false here. Wall St doesn't expect to receive a dividend from Amazon.  They don't even expect Amazon to buy shares back. They do expect these things from many of Amazon's competitors.

Amazon is extremely unusual.

Geez, I can't believe some of you people blame Amazon for paying no taxes.

Amazon has a fiduciary responsibility to their shareholders to maximize their profits, and that includes minimizing their taxes.  They're simply following the law.   You think they should just voluntarily pay more taxes than they're supposed to?

If you don't like it, tell your congressperson to change the tax laws.   Amazon is carrying out their fiduciary responsibility to their shareholders.
