Boy, that guy struggled badly. Remember when they were lined up on a 4th down to try and draw the Jags offsides? The guy snapped it, and Hoyer (who was caught totally off-guard) had to try to run it around for the first. Lol, classic!


Hoyer looked really good the last two times against the Jags. He also has looked good so far this year with Chicago.

The Jags are going to crush the bears...there I said it...and probably jinxed us.

Not even close. He lost his favorite tight end, Martellus Bennett, so now Zach Miller is the TE1 in Chicago. How good is Brian Hoyer at throwing to decent TEs against a good defense?

The first question is will we see a healthy or injured Cutler.

He has been good against a bad defense. We are not the same team that let Hoyer do whatever he wanted.

 

Nobody pointed out how injured the Bears are. Read the IR list. The Bears are in complete rebuilding mode and can't do the job because so many players get hurt.

Mad props to Thunderwhatever for showin up on other teams' boards with routinely inaccurate predictions. I admire your swag if not your credibility.

Here are some specific matchups I'll be looking for on Sunday.

 

Malik vs Sitton/Long: If Malik can continue to get pressure up the middle, the young guys can wreak havoc.

 

Linder/Omameh/Cann vs their interior DLine: We gotta run the ball. Can't have Blake throwing all game. Run that rock.

 

Jeffery vs Ramsey: Take away those big plays. Jeffery counts on those long balls so limit him.

 

Colvin vs Royal: Assuming Colvin plays nickel, gotta take him out of the offense. He torched the Jags when he was with the Chargers.

 

Poz (hopefully Jack) vs Miller: Miller is actually healthy as opposed to when he was with the Jags. He's a good target.

Like most games this season, this one comes down to limiting mistakes for the Jags. 

 

They can beat this bears squad pretty readily on paper. They matchup pretty well. 

 

Can they get the penalties in check?  

How many busted coverages in the secondary this week?

Does Blake protect the ball? 

Do the coaches make an adjustment if a particular zone coverage is being exposed repeatedly? 

 

If they can clean that stuff up to just 50% less than usual they will win.

 That means only one or two busted coverages  --  one or less turnovers by Blake   --  60 yards in penalties or less overall  -- and finally just adjusting any weaknesses in the defense before they are picked apart for big gains and points  (i.e. - the underneath crossing route vs SD)

And now all our starters are healthy.... This should absolutely be a win.

Didn't Lee return a punt against Baltimore? I know he did one this year.

 

I would put Lee as the PR if Greene can't go, but if they stick with Walters at least we know it will be the same as a fair catch every time

Technically,  Chris Prosinski isn't a starter for the Bears.   Adrian Amos and Harold Jones-Quartey are the Bears starting Safeties.  But because of injuries earlier this season,  Prosinski played more at Safety than the Bears would have preferred.   It's safe to say that he's much better suited for Special Teams.

 Though I'm picking the Jaguars to win the game,   in the 3 Bears games that I watched in the early part of the regular season,  the Defensive player who has impressed me the most on their team is Jerrell Freeman.   His speed and instincts have made him a major asset against the run and in pass coverage.   Why the Colts thought he was expendable is beyond me.  

They're not even giving Da Bears 3 points Home Field Advantage

We have the talent to get after him and the talent to cover Jeffrey.

 

You just explained to yourself why what happened in 2014 is completely meaningless. The same QB torched us last season.

Zach may not be a bigger threat than Alshon, but he's challenging players other than our CBs. Ramsey, Colvin and company should keep Alshon, and Eddie Royals for that matter, at least somewhat in check.

The Bears are really banged up:

"Really banged up" has been the case since three defensive players suffered season-ending injuries in Week 2 - the same night Jay Cutler got hurt. Then they lost Kevin White for the year a few weeks later. The Week 6 injury report is really bad and only part of the story.
