isnt getting in cap trouple and not able to get FA what got Tom Fired the first time?
I understand the move, but I am not a fan of letting Gip go. We spent years failing to find a good free safety before landing Gipson. I hope we don't go back to sucking balls at that position again.

Yep. But the Jackson, Gipson, and Parnell signings didn't happen under Coughlin.

Taven can fill in for Jackson...he was getting more reps toward the end of the season anyway.

I have this scary feeling that the Titans are going to sign Gipson...to replace Cyp.
Wheres the release of Bortles?

How are we in cap trouble. NFL teams sign players and cut players, it's what we do. The only glaringly bad deal we've made recently was the Bortles one. Everything else has been reasonable we overpay for Free Agents (everyone does) but not to the point where we're desperate (letting players like Murray or Cousins walk). Cut players when they're not worth their price anymore, so really what's so bad with what we're doing.

They aren’t signing a FA. They just paid starter money to our back up safety Wilson.

Same here. Out of all the moves, this one I agree with the least as we’ve all seen how this defense is without consistent quality safety play.

They have plenty of time to do that.

Look for that to happen once Foles signs his name on the dotted line.

I'd definitely say Carlos Hyde falls into the 'glaringly bad deal' camp. But, yeah, cap trouble is something that causes more worries than it should.
Who do we replace him with? Obviously price is gonna be a factor, but I would try to target Adrian Phillips. He might not cost that much and he played well for the Chargers.

Yeah the Hyde deal was awful, but it wasn't really a cap management issue, just a bad trade. We're not looking at any significant cap issues from the Hyde deal is what I mean, we just lost a 5th round pick needlessly.
I'll have generally fond memories of Parnell, Gipson and Jackson, especially from 2017. All three were good FA signings by the Jags that contributed a lot to the team. As for Hyde, let's just pretend that never happened.

When it comes to Tinker I eagerly await his admission to the HOF in 5 years time, and endless debates about whether he is the greatest football player of all time. He will be missed.

After the 2019 season we can cut Blake for a cap hit of 5 Mio, but that cap space wont be nearly enough to sign Ramsey, Ngakoue and Jack, so even more players will have to leave, leaving us with a rebuild that will only be hampered by the salary Foles will commend for the next 3-4 years. Instead of retooling entirely through the draft we will pay Foles loads of money for us to be a below average team, instead of building up a cheaper, young QB through the draft(s). I was pissed with the BB5 extension, pissed with a lot of coach and player signings over the years, but I have a feeling this will prolong our suffering even more, bcs we wont have money for FAs and our team lacks so many weapons on so many positions, this is such a cop out by the FO to make things look slightly better for a season only to prevent the rebuild from happening sooner.

1. No matter, what this team will have to retool via the draft in next 2-3 years. Those guys on defense will be done no matter whether Foles is signed or not.

2. This team has always signed FA to contracts with nearly all the guaranteed money in the first 2 years. So why would you think Foles will be different and caused issues for 4 seasons? I don't think it will cost $20 mil for one, but even if it does. He has no other options if the Jags say okay but only guaranteed money in the first 2 seasons. And if he balks, then the Jags go Plan B and draft a rookie.

Jags still need a 3rd guy though in case of injury. That may be a rookie, but if they can get Phillips on a prove it deal, that would be great.
Foles isn't worth $10 Million much less 18+
My avatar is barely hanging on to Blake's coattails...

He was an average player at Michigan and he's barely played in the pros. I don't see him as starter material at all. This front office is messed up. They extend Bortles, give away a 5th round pick for Hyde then cut him, draft Taven Bryan in the first round, give Jarrod Wilson starter money when he's barely even played, cut Gipson and most likely will give Foles a big contract. Wake me when it's over.

I have no problem with this. Wilson has filled in admirably when needed.
