Not to mention Westbrook runs well above his weight. His yards after contact are impressive for a guy with his relatively thin build. I liked Mickens his first year, but he seems to have stalled last season.

Bo's problem is that he's a fullback, and Tom Coughlin cuts fullbacks the second he has to pay them. He added Maston on the cheap and let him go when he'd have to pay him. Drafted Daimon Shelton and let him walk in free agency, then added Pat Washington as a UFDA instead because he cost a whole lot less. Bohanon's probably not coming back, although I'd love it if he did. It was fun watching a Jaguars fullback do something other than line up in the I, run face-first into a linebacker, lather, rinse, repeat.

Is Westbrook a better returner?  Mickens has taken a couple to the house and got ST player of the week twice in 2017 when he was healthy

Mickens is one of the best punt returners in the league

4.9 yards per return last year. That's a Hall of Famer if ever I've seen one.

Mickens 2018 was a struggle but he had a good 2017. He like most Jaguars did not live up to their 2017 potential. I for one would like to see him at least get a shot in camp. In 2017 he looked like Devon Hester Jr. for a time.

If I recall correctly, didn't he have a decent 2017 until a point in time where he started fumbling a lot.  I think after those fumbles in 2017 he was so focused on actually catching the ball that it took a step or 2 away from his initial break.

The problem with UFAs is that they know they're always a fumble away from being cut so they tend to play conservative after screwing up.

No. Hester was explosive and terrifyingly fast. Mickens has good speed, but what made him special was his first few steps. He got to top speed quickly and could make the first guy miss, and if a punt returner can make the first guy miss, he's got a pretty good shot at a decent return. Once the fumbles started getting into his head, it was over. If he's in camp next year that's a plus, because it's an experienced guy to compete for a special teams job, but tbqh I don't think he would have been on the team by the end of last season if he hadn't been hurt.

Relatively thin? lol, that is putting it lightly. Dude is around 170 lbs. That's like 20 lbs less than ME. And I'm not quite as fat as you think. He needs to put on a little weight, at least get to 185. Doubt it will compromise his speed, he's a natural burner.

What's Corey Grant up to, and why isn't he back on the team yet? Are the Jags waiting for him to heal, maybe?

Grant was put on IR with the lisfranc issue in October.  Unfortunately, a severe lisfranc injury can take up to a year for full recovery.

Mickens fumbled 4x in 2017. For a player that has limited touches that is extreme.

Last year he only fumbled once but really didn't play much due to injury.

OK lets summarize -- he fumbles a lot and is injury prone.

Yes, let's sign him for another year. We did it with Gus Bradly and Blake Bortles so why not Mickens.

ASJ just signed with the Patriots.

I kind of doubt if he will ever play another down in the NFL.  He was basically "just a guy".  RB's like him are pretty much "dime a dozen".  I suspect another "Corey Grant" kind of guy will get either drafted by the team or signed as an undrafted rookie.

This is not a knock on him, I liked watching him play but after that injury and the fact that he is not really starting material, I just have a feeling that teams will opt for fresher, younger backs (I know he's still young) to fill the role that he filled.

A Lisfranc injury is what ended MJD's career in the NFL, and MJD was at least twice the player Grant was. They'll find a replacement for Grant soon enough, even if he's not quite the fan favorite Grant was.
