Group the plausible guys into three groups: Very Happy With/Meh, Not Upset/Disappointed

For me it's:

Very Happy With-
Any of the 3 Defensive Studs (Bosa/Allen/Q. Williams)
Ed Oliver
TJ Hockenson

Meh, Not Upset-
Jonah Williams
Noah Fant
Montez Sweat
Brian Burns
Andre Dillard

Disappointed-
Jawaan Taylor
Any LB
Rashan Gary
DK Metcalf

I actually agree with everything here except “any LB”. We need usable depth and a true MLB certainly wouldn’t hurt.

+1 for me.
I would flip Taylor and Jonah. Fant at 7 would disappoint me, but trading back and landing him with some extra draft capital is fine. Landing White wouldn't be disappointing, but the rest of the LB better be a trade down, or we should never draft again.

I would add Haskins in the meh category, too.
I just hope that before they get to that pickless 5th round, they have added the following:

Legit competition at RT
A TE suited to Flip's playbook

There are several ways to go with the other two picks before the fifth, and I'm open minded about it.
FS, EDGE, WR, c.o.p. RB, NT, back-up QB are all in play. I'm good with finding value at any of those spots. But the RT and TE thing needs to be the priority.
I would love the idea of getting a great TE. I think it would help solidify our rushing game and could mitigate any issues if we end up settling for an average RT. And then with the matchup issues a good receiving TE can create, I think it would open things up for our receiving core. But is Hock really that good? I don't know, I'm not a scout. And frankly I havent spent much time watching any highlights or videos on youtube of prospects this year. If he is as good as they say he can be, I'd be happy with the pick. It is a deep draft on TEs they say so perhaps you pass on him and get a guy in the 2nd.

I dont know what to think about Jawaan Taylor. So many mixed reviews. And mixed reviews on a top 10 pick, and on a non-premium position like RT no less, doesnt sound very appealing.

Frankly you can never have enough good defensive lineman so if we drafted someone there who can disrupt, I'd be happy with that as well.
Very Happy With
- Any of the 2 Defensive Studs (Bosa/Q. Williams)
- Ed Oliver
- TJ Hockenson
- Noah Fant

Meh, Not Upset
- Devin White
- Josh Allen
- Jawaan Taylor
- DK Metcalf
- Marquise Brown

Total reach, but not crying
- Devin Bush
- Jonah Williams
- Christian Wilkins
- AJ Brown
- Hakeem Butler
- N'Keal Harry
- Parris Campbell

Disappointed-
- Montez Sweat
- Rashan Gary
- Brian Burns
- Andre Dillard
- Cody Ford
- Irv Smith
- Kelvin Harmon
- Deebo Samuel
- Riley Ridley
- any QB

We have two 3rds...so that would be 5 picks before the 5th.

I still believe if Bosa/Williams/Oliver/Allen are gone they trade back thinking they can still grab one of the TEs or OL and get some additional picks.

Thank you.

I was only halfway into the first cup of coffee on that post.  Big Grin

My bad math aside, my point remains, and it will be fun to see where they go with those THREE other picks assuming two of them are dedicated to RT and TE respectively.

A trade back is not going to happen. Caldwell has never traded back above the 5th round, and at least twice he should have and the team drafting next traded down. Coughlin has never traded back in the 1st round, and I don't remember him doing so in the 2nd either. The only time I can remember was when Shack Harris traded down and then (still, since he was projected at our original slot) drafted Reggie Nelson.

If I had money on this draft, I'd put it all on Montez Sweat. Coughlin has probably already assigned him a jersey number (like he did for Marcus Stroud).

Agreed.

I would personally go Hockenson/RT in 1st/2nd if no trade back but I can easily see the arguement for going DL/RT in the 1st/2nd.

The TE class is deep enough that we can grab a solid one in the 3rd.

Still holding out hope that Miami/Den/Wash wants to come up for a QB and we net a minimum additional 2nd/4th.

If they are targeting Sweat I would really prefer the trade down to the mid teens then grab him.

Still prefer Hockenson/Oliver over him if we had to pick at 7.
Final Thoughts.

I’m terrified that I’ll hear the Jags draft Gary or Taylor.

I’m hoping that it’s Hockenson or Jonah. Oliver would also do just fine.

I’m very intrigued with rounds 2-4 for the Jags most of all though. I think this is going to see the most action in terms of picks no one saw coming.
