Quote:Meh. Tomlin was what? 35 when he look over the Steelers. Pretty sure Gruden was around that age as well we he took over.
If you're taking over a head coaching role at that age you have to have a certain style and toughness to you in my opinion. Tomlin/Cowher are tough defensive guys and had the benefit of being with the Steelers.

Shanahan doesn't seem like someone who could lead a team at this age but I suppose Gruden and himself are pretty similar.

It will be interesting to see how Adam Gase does this year.

If Gus had an action figure, it would look like that.

He looks like he's just watching the game, with no clue as to what's going on

That's because he is, and he doesn't.

This is actually an old coaching technique, although a lot of people tend to get down on a knee. When you get into a position like this, typically you're focused on one player or one aspect of a play. It's simply used to focus your attention on something.
I would love to see the cowboys OC Scott Linehan here. I think he would do wonders!
Quote:....My point is that there are/have been many great coaches with disciplined teams that are stoic on the sideline and save the "getting on their players" stuff for when the cameras are off.

Whatever Gus is doing when the cameras are off isn't working. We know that.

So very true....just this morning I read the Jags are the most penalized team for yardage (392 yards) in the league and 9 penalties back in number from Oakland. But they've played 5 games.....we've only played 4.

Com'on guys...that's like giving up a whole field every game.

Wow. You're right. That's messed up. They need to get the penalties cleaned up.
