OBJ was one of the most dynamic WRs in the game last season and now he doesn't seem to be able to control his emotions on the field or on the sidelines?

He seems like a different player after that wild game against Norman and the Panthers last year where they just went back and forth, pushing and shoving each other until they ended up on the ground at times and completely out of the play.

I know he played against a tough defense in the Vikings, but he is allowing himself to be taken out of the game fairly easily and other DBs will see this and do the same things to him.

What is going on with him? Is he just too emotional? Is he just a baby when things aren't going his way? Doesn't he realize he is hurting his team when he acts like that? Does he even care?

Yes, Yes, No, No
20 Somethings are a tricky bunch. You can never really tell what's going on with them and that's just the ones that don't have endorsement deals and big time contracts. It's tough to know what's going on with him outside of the Locker Room, and even more tough to know if he is going to be 100% committed to the job on a given day.

I hope he gets himself aligned. He's an amazing talent when he is on his game.

Never thought he was that great. He can make one handed catches and plays in New York so media eats it up
He can't handle adversity.  If you recall he was whining last year during the preseason because the Jags double teamed him.

I get what you're saying, but you don't one-handed catch your way to back-to-back 1,300+ yard receiving seasons. He does have a flair for the dramatic, and media types do love that he gives them several "wow!" moments, but you can't doubt that kind of production.
He's a good football player...just needs to keep his mouth closed more often.

Being a Giant has absolutely nothing to do with how much attention he gets. One-handed catches do, and he could make them in any uniform.

Yes being in a larger market does absolutely help with attention
He's good but overrated and clearly an idiot .

I got flamed last year for saying I'd pick A-rob over OBJ because he's more complete, and that includes keeping his head.

Feels kinda' confirmed at the moment.

Larger markets don't help players who are less talented than Odell Beckham. The most important thing is what he does on the field every single time.
Like whining and crying on the field every single game.

Allen Robinson should have been gone when we selected Marqise Lee. The only thing Odell Beckham is better at is catching the ball with one hand.

In fantasy, I had been starting ODB and AROB.

This week, I finally benched ODB and put in Crabtree. AROB and Crabtree are scoring nicely.

I think I'll leave ODB on the sidelines. He'll have a few games that are pretty good. But, yeah he's overrated for the production he gets.

Yea the guy is a total emotional head case, but he's not "overrated" or anything like that, he's still a great player. His dip in production this year is due to multiple things, Eli has missed him on a couple of long TD passes, they've played against some solid defenses in terms of pass coverage, and there are simply more mouths to feed in that offense with the emergence of Sterling Sheppard and the return of Victor Cruz. With that said, I think OBJ goes off against the Packers this week, the Pack where shredded by Stefon Diggs and Marvin Jones jr recently.

Haha he isn't "overrated", I agree he's a compete lunatic but he's still a great player. I've watched most of there games this season, Eli has missed him on a couple of would-be long TD passes, they've played against two of the better pass defenses in the league in Dallas & Minnesota, he had decent games (good by anyone else's standard) against New Orleans & Washington. His dip in production has more to do with the early season match-ups, and the fact that there are more mouths to feed in that passing game, Sterling Sheppard and Victor Cruz are both getting their targets. It's not just "OBJ" anymore in that passing game, I think he tears up that Green Bay secondary (who will likely be without Sam Shields) this weekend. People called AJ Green overrated for years, his lack of "elite" production had to do with vultured targets to guys like Marvin Jones, Mohamed Sanu, and Tyler Eifert, now that Green is the only competent pass catcher in Cincy people are seeing first-hand how great of a player he is.

I doubt our opinions are actually very far from one another's on the young man's abilities on the field,  but I don't find his play to be worthy of the incredible amount of hype that surrounds him.

Just my opinion. Not carving any higher truths in stone here.

Well you're obviously in New York haha, you should know first hand anyone that plays at a high level in that city is going to generate (deserved or undeserved) incredible hype, that's the nature of the beast. I think we'd be selling him a tad bit short if we said it wasn't deserved, i mean when was the last time a WR had the type of impact OBJ had as a rookie? You'll have to go back to Randy Moss, I'm not saying he's the next Moss or Rice, but the guy is an incredible talent, unfortunately he's (mentally) soft as silk panties.

Odell Beckham gets a ton of hype while most people still don't say much about Victor Cruz except the fact that he was out the last two years. If being in a large market had anything to do with it, why are the media talking mostly about Odell? Why not  every single WR on a Giants or Jets roster? That should tell you something.
