I read this https://www.reddit.com/r/nfl/comments/ab...arison_of/ and found it intriguing. When I got to the bottom I saw this...

"I actually was motivated to see the difference between Wentz and Foles with this, since it's a hot debate as an Eagles fan.
Wentz 9-14 (0-0 playoffs)
Foles 11-11 (4-2 playoffs)"

I don't know what this means but i like it!
I'm willing to bet a large portion of Foles' losses against winning teams come from that one season with Jeff Fisher on that Rams team devoid of talent. Any idea what the numbers look like if you remove the outlier of the 2015 season for Foles?
Nick Foles was known for winning against teams with winning records while in Philadelphia...it's pretty much what he did while in Philly.

He went 4-1 as a starter in 2019.  So add those to his numbers.

Edit:  I meant in the 2018 season, not 2019.

Also add the Super Bowl win.

So 5-1 as a starter since those numbers.
Personally, I don't see why most of the analysts think Wentz is so great.

Great arm, good outside of structure, good anticipation in MOF, fairly accurate.

What do you think his weaknesses are

Both QBs are good. The difference is age basically. Would you play a younger QB, going into his 3rd year, with merely the same stats as the older QB going on 30. I mean, im no GM, but i think i'd take the younger QB for more longevity and success at a high level. Who knows when Foles will decline and thats the question mark here in jax. WIll he look like he did in Philly with their roster, or will he look different with the Jags roster and talent.

If I won games with my backup and our first Superbowl with him within our system? I keep that guy and trade the other guy away for more draft picks. Wentz may never be the same QB after all of those knee injuries.

Carson Palmer had a fairly respectable NFL career but he never really elevated himself that much further after that knee injury against Pittsburgh. That doesn't mean Wentz can't have success in the NFL anymore. But it could put a damper on his decision making moving forward in regards to sacrificing his body to make a play or perhaps his natural rhythm in the pocket.

We'll see soon enough I guess.

You have a very valid point.  I had wentz that year in fantasy, and oh boy,  he took me to my first SB in my first ever Fantasy league.  When he went down, so did I, but i was impressed with what he did.  I don't know if he will return to form but idk man, idk.

The few SNF and MNF games that I watched him play in I was pretty impressed. He's got great poise in the pocket, a strong arm, fairly accurate. He just has bad knees.

I like Wentz, I think he's a great QB going through some injuries right now.

During the early part of last season, I heard a pretty neat clip, I can't remember who said it, but they said "Wentz is the overall better/more talented QB. But Foles is the better QB for this Eagles team"

"Wentz might never be the same QB again" after an ACL tear is a huge reach, especially because we just saw him last year after it. It's not a big issue anymore

Better by virtue of being healthy sure. Foles has only been good for a handful of games over the last two years , thankfully they came in the important ones in 2017

He's had one knee injury.  He missed the end of last year with a back issue.

You saw him last year up until his back injury (thought it was another knee injury, probably got my wires crossed while thinking of Carson Palmer). That's now two years in a row where he's ended the season on IR. You're only as good as your durability and body allows you to be. I don't think it's that much of a reach. It could change the way he approaches the game mentally as a competitor.

That may be on the back of his mind now on a weekly basis. Especially when you know the back-up who carried your offense to a SB victory and into the post season again is no longer there to help the team out when/if you go down due to yet another injury. I wonder if it'll change the way Dough Pederson now approaches opponents with Wentz and his gameplan's as well though.
The big knock on Foles is if he can do it for an entire season. We are going to find out real soon.
That's cool and all... but W/L records are team things.

The team around said player matters as much (or more, considering its 21 other positions)

Can he do what he did in limited time with Philly, with OUR roster? Or will he perform more like he did in KC/STL with those rosters?
