Former Texans RB D'Onta Freeman claimed by Colts

Former Houston Texans running back D'Onta Foreman is getting another chance to contribute after being claimed off waivers by the Indianapolis Colts, the team announced Monday.
He'll never be the same after that Achilles tear.

Sad, because he really flashed pre injury.. also he supposedly has work ethic issues and was getting tossed around or flat out wiffing in pass protection which is the reason why they cut him so quickly.

I'm no doctor, and fortunately I have suffered neither injury, but I fear an Achilles tear much more than an ACL tear.

With the medical advancements with knee repairs it definitely is and it's pretty much a death nail for running backs.. even took out Arian Foster.

It's taken out a bunch of guys over the years.  Dallas CB Kevin Smith, Miami QB Dan Marino, Jaguars DE Reggie Hayward and many others were never the same after an Achilles injury.  Plenty of guys have returned to a high level after a torn ACL, including Jerry Rice, Michael Irvin, and Rod Woodson.
Acls are almost flesh wounds these days unless you develop the "arthritic knee/bone on bone" condition (Todd Gurley). Here's a name from the past. Remember Dominack Davis? He developed the same knee condition that I believe Todd Gurley now has.. He tried to run on it and after one season on that knee he hung up his cleats.. Maybe Gurley's isn't as severe, but he definitely has a microfracture surgery coming in his near future.
...and D'onta Foreman is now on IR..

To me being a non medical professional, I would say there were two  that makes things worse:  1 where there are multiple ligaments torn; and 2 where there is some sort of nerve damage (see Teddy Bridgewater).

I say all this stuff, and we are just barely getting a guy back (Cam Robinson) with a torn ACL, and another guy with multiple ligaments torn (Marquise Lee).

I hope they get back fast and completely healthy.

Still glad they didn't tear the Achilles.

Oh yeah...I remembered Davis.  He was a pretty good back for you guys.  LSU right?  I didn't remember it was a knee that did him in.

Even though I still don't know exactly what these guys go through when they rehab serious injuries like that I'm gaining a greater appreciation for those efforts and discipline it takes to recover from them.
